The Washington Post has added two staff writers to Its Morning Mix team:
· Teo Armus has joined Morning Mix as a staff writer. He was previously with the Charlotte Observer where he covered immigration, race and identity. Prior to that, he was a reporting fellow for the Texas Tribune reporting on immigration and the Texas border, and before that interned at the Washington Post on the Metro desk.
· Katie Shepherd has joined Morning Mix as a staff writer. She spent the last two years covering Oregon’s criminal justice system and far-right extremism in the Pacific Northwest for Willamette Week, an alt-weekly in Portland, Oregon. She has previously interned at BBC News, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and the Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Susanna Schrobsdorff has moved into a new dual role as senior vice president of partnerships and executive editor at TIME magazine. She will continue to be a liaison between the editorial and business teams. Schrobsdorff has been with TIME since 2011 when she joined the team as assistant managing editor. In 2016 she was appointed executive editor and chief strategic partnerships editor.
NBC News has named Alice Barr as a Washington correspondent. She comes from the network’s Dallas, Texas, bureau where she served as a news reporter for three years. Prior to that, Barr worked as a reporter for KHOU-TV in Houston, Texas, and Meredith’s K CTV in Kansas City, Missouri.
Hayleigh Colombo is the newest reporter at Columbus Business First and covers higher education, the business of sports, the arts, and travel and tourism. She comes from the Indianapolis Business Journal where she spent the last four years reporting on government and education. Before that, Colombo covered K-12 education, specifically Indianapolis Public Schools, for Chalkbeat Indiana, a nonprofit journalism organization that focuses exclusively on education policy.
Fox-owned KDFW-TV in Dallas has hired Terrance Friday as a weekend morning anchor and reporter. He was previously a reporter at CBS’ WJTV-12 in Jackson, Mississippi, for five years and before that served as an anchor at WILX-TV in Lansing, Michigan, and a weekend anchor/reporter at WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi.
John-Carlos Estrada has joined the morning team of KEYE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Austin, Texas, as an anchor. He comes from WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, where he spent the last two years as a weekend evening anchor and reporter. Prior to that, Estrada worked for KTRE-TV in Lufkin, Texas.
KSAZ-TV, the Fox affiliated station in Phoenix, Arizona, has tapped Bailey Miller as a reporter. She comes from KSEE-TV in Fresno California, and before that has worked at KEZI-TV in Oregon, TV Santa Barbara, and SCVTV in Stevenson Ranch, California.
Nia Wong has joined KXLY-TV in Spokane, Washington, and anchors the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts, alongside Aaron Luna. She will also do investigations and special reports. Wong comes from Las Vegas, where she served as a morning reporter and weekend morning anchor at KLAS-TV. She has also worked in California and Oregon.
