Politico Pro has hired Juan Pérez Jr. as a K-12 and higher education reporter. He was most recently a reporter covering education, government and politics at the Chicago Tribune. Prior to that, Pérez worked for the Omaha World-Herald in Nebraska as City Hall reporter.
The New York Times has named Karen Crouse international sports correspondent based in London. She replaces Andrew Keh, who is returning to New York soon to become chief Olympics correspondent. Crouse has been with The Times for 14 years and has covered a range of sports beats.
IDG, the parent company of Computerworld and CIO.com, has launched a new subscription-based newsletter titled Insider Pro. It offers a wide range of content including tutorials, policy guides and in-depth analyses and is written for developers, CIOs and IT pros who must make crucial technology decisions for their companies. Insider Pro is an ad-free newsletter edited by Dan Muse, who is also the director for audience engagement at IDG.
Meredith Corporation has announced that its Local Media Group will launch a new Southern Living television show starting in April 2020. It will air in all 12 of Meredith's local television markets including Atlanta, Nashville, Greenville, South Carolina, and Mobile, Alabama. “The Southern Living Show” will celebrate the Southern lifestyle and will cover food, home, travel, and style. It will be hosted by Ivy Odom, the host of Southern Living's “Hey Y'all” video series on IGTV. Viewers can get a sneak preview of the new show this holiday season when Meredith's 17 television stations air four holiday focused “The Southern Living Show” specials starting around Thanksgiving.
Derek Hunter has joined WCBM-AM conservative radio in Baltimore, Maryland, as a late morning host. He succeeds Bruce Elliot in the 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. slot. Hunter previously hosted late nights and later early afternoon at WBAL from 2011 to 2017. He also hosts the Daily Daily Caller Podcast and a writer for DailyCaller.com and Townhall.com.
WWKA-FM country radio in Orlando has hired Melissa Quinones as a full-time midday host. She was most recently a part-time night talent and has been with the cluster since 2014 working in promotions before moving on-air.
