The Washington Post has announced new coverage for two if its reporters:

  • Isabelle Khurshudyan has become a Moscow correspondent and joined the Foreign desk Nov. 1. She has been with the paper since 2014 and was most recently a sports reporter covering the Washington Capitals hockey team.
  • Samantha Pell is the new Washington Capitals beat reporter. replacing Isabelle Khurshudyan. She has filled in on the beat at various points in the past two years and has been on the Caps beat since the start of the current NHL season. Pell joined The Post in late 2017 as a full-time reporter covering high school sports.

Lauren Pardee has joined POPSUGAR as associate editor. She comes from Meredith Corporation where she most recently served as an associate digital editor for Martha Stewart Weddings. Prior to that, Pardee served as a digital editorial assistant at and

The San Diego Union-Tribune has welcomed Kristy Totten as community opinion writer. She produces podcasts and coordinates social media for the Ideas & Opinion section. Totten was most recently a producer of “State of Nevada” on Nevada Public Radio and before that spent a year as a staff writer for Las Vegas Weekly.

Helen Hollyman has been named editor in chief of Thrillist. She has more than a decade of experience in food journalism and most recently ran her own consulting agency specializing in brand strategy in food, travel, and lifestyle. From 2013 to 2018 she was with Vice Media and was one of the co-founders and first editor in chief of Munchies. Hollyman has also covered food and beverages for Bon Appetit, Eater, GQ, Saveur, Refinery29, and other publications.

CNN has tapped Stephen Mays as associate producer, digital programming. He comes from U.S. News & World Report where he worked for three years, most recently as audience development specialist for social media. Before that Mays served as a digital producer for The Telegraph and editor in chief of The Red & Black Newspaper.

After less than a year at the Los Angeles Times, Stuart Emmrich has left his post as an assistant managing editor of the Lifestyle section. He has been on staff since January 2019 and before that was the Styles editor at The New York Times for seven years before becoming an editor at large in 2017.  Emmrich has also previously served as the executive editor of Smart Money, and senior editor of Time magazine.

Janice Yu has joined WAGA-TV, the Fox affiliated station in Atlanta, Georgia, as a reporter. She was previously a breaking news anchor/reporter at KOLD-TV in Tucson, Arizona, and before that worked at several station in Texas including KVEO-TV in Brownsville, KTSM-TV in El Paso, and KVII-TV in Amarillo.
