The New York Times has hired two new reporters for the Visual Investigations team:

  • Haley Willis has been promoted to reporter, upped from a newsroom fellow, a role she has held since June 2019 and during which she covered breaking news and visual investigations,. Prior to that,  Willis worked as an open-source researcher for the Human Rights Center where she covered  the sale of French arms, the siege on a university and church in Managua, Nicaragua and documented torture by security sources in Cameroon. 
  • Evan Hill has been promoted to full-time reporter. He was most recently  a temporary open-source reporter, a role he held since June 2019. Before that,  Hill was a researcher and producer for the Human Rights Watch where his work centered on visual investigation videos. 

Adweek has hired five reporters for their retail, marketing and brand coverage:

  • Monica Marie Zorrilla has been hired as a breaking news reporter. She covers the latest news about brand moves. She joins Adweek from Visit Philadelphia, a travel and tourism publication, where she was a writer and copy editor. She is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  
  • Kathryn Lundstrom has been hired as a breaking news reporter covering the latest brand moves. Her previous roles include politics and current events writer for The Donut, an online newsletter. She is based in Austin, Texas.  
  • Ian Zelaya has joined Adweek as a reporter covering experiential marketing through ROI and best practices. He was most recently a news editor for BizBash and had been with the outlet for three years. He covered the event industry with with a focus on well-known award shows, music festivals and fundraising galas.
  • Richard Collings has joined Adweek as a Reporter covering new beats for Adweek, consumer packaged goods and the financial side of retail. He joins Adweek from LevFin Insights where he spent one year as a Reporter covering leverage finance and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs).
  • Paul Hiebert has joined Adweek as a reporter covering consumer packaged goods and the financial side of retail. Previously, he was a freelancer for ten years with work appearing in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Slate. Additionally, he wrote and held positions at YouGov and Pacific Standard Magazine while contributing to the publication of a non-fiction book, "The Turn-On." 

KUPL-FM, the Alpha Media Country station in Portland, Oregon, has promoted Danny Dwyer to assistant program director. He has been with the station since 1998 where he held the role of music director. Dwyer's promotion is effective immediately. 

Kalyna Astrinos has joined KTNV-TV, the ABC station in Las Vegas, as a morning show co-anchor for "Good Morning Las Vegas." She comes from KGTV-TV in San Diego, California, where she served as a traffic reporter for 10News This Morning, as well as multimedia journalist, reporter and anchor fill-in for Breaking News LIVE Center for three years.
