Popular Science has announced that Corinne Iozzio will serve as editor-in-chief effective immediately, promoted from executive editor. She has been with the outlet sporadically since 2009 first as an associate editor then as a senior associate technology editor. After a brief leave, Iozzio returned in 2017 as the managing editor. Prior to joining Popular Science, Iozzio worked at PC Magazine for more than two years. 

Robert Hordt has joined Crain’s New York Business as an editor. He makes the move after more than ten years as a deputy editor at InvestmentNews. This is not Hordt’s first time with the outlet; he initially served as managing editor for Crain’s New York Business from 2007 to 2009. 

The 19th, a forthcoming non-profit and non-partisan news organization covering the intersection of gender, politics and policy, has announced the following hires, prior to the Summer 2020 launch: 

  • Emily Ramshaw is a co-founder and CEO of the upcoming organization. She makes the move after serving as the editor in chief for the Texas Tribune for more than three years. She also served as an investigative reporter for the Texas Tribune from 2009 to 2013. 

  • Amanda Zamora is a co-founder and publisher. Like her fellow co-founder, she most recently worked at the Texas Tribune as chief audience officer for more than three years. Prior to that, Zamora served as senior engagement editor for ProPublica from 2012 to 2016.  

  • Andrea Valdez has joined as editor  in chief. She makes the move after serving as the editor in chief for the Texas Observer. Valdez has also worked as an editor for Wired, and editor for Texas Monthly. 

  • Errin Haines has joined as the editor at large. She most recently worked at The Associated Press as a race and ethnicity national writer, and before that as a reporter. Haines has also worked at the Washington Post, Orlando Sentinel, Los Angeles Times and Atlanta Daily World.  

Bobby Allyn of NPR will move from the main Washington, D.C bureau to the San Francisco bureau to cover technology and Silicon Valley. He has been with NPR since May 2019. Prior to that, he served as a courts and criminal justice reporter for WHYY-FM. Allyn has also worked at outlets including The Tennessean, The Oregonian, The New York Times, Washington City Paper and The Nation.  

KQKQ-FM radio in Omaha, Nebraska, has announced the addition of on-air personality Chi to take over afternoons. She will also serve as music director for the sister station KOPW-FM. With over 13 years in radio, Chi is no stranger to the Omaha or Nebraska airwaves. 

KING-TV, the NBC affiliate in Seattle has promoted host and reporter Angela Russell to an anchor role. She joins the ‘Evening’ program that serves as the station’s lifestyle and entertainment show that has been on air for more than 30 years. Russell has been with KING-TV for five years.
