The Wall Street Journal has restructured its China operations by announcing three deputy bureau chiefs and two senior correspondents:

  • Yoko Kubota has been promoted to deputy bureau chief. She is based in the Beijing bureau and covers business news in China, Chinese and foreign companies, business environment in China, the economy and society. Kubota has been with The Journal since 2017, most recently as macroeconomics reporter out of the Tokyo bureau.
  • Josh Chin has been promoted to deputy bureau chief and is in charge of politics and general news in China. He was most recently a reporter in the Beijing bureau and covered politics and tech, civil society, human rights, law, censorship and other beats.
  • Sofia McFarland has also been promoted to deputy bureau chief and coordinates U.S.-based reporters and stateside coverage of the Beijing-Washington relationship from New York. This is her third stint with the China bureau and a second as a deputy. McFarland has spent the two years between her latest China stints as an editor for The Journal’s weekend Exchange section. 
  • Jeremy Page has been promoted to senior China correspondent and writes enterprise stories on Chinese politics, geopolitics and diplomacy. Page has been with The Journal since 2010.  
  • Lingling Wei has been promoted to senior China correspondent and writes enterprise stories on the world of economic policy and trade. She has been with The Journal since 2009.

Anna Townshend has joined Putman Media as the managing editor of Control Design and Plant Services magazines. She previously spent 12 years at Waterways Journal Inc. as editor of both of Marina Dock Age and International Dredging Review.

The Washington Post has welcomed Jeremy Barr as breaking news reporter on the Features desk. He comes from The Hollywood Reporter where he served as senior media reporter since 2017. Barr has previously worked at Advertising Age, Politico, the Washington Examiner, and more.

Will Cain has been named the next co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend.He will make his debut on Saturday, Aug. 15 alongside co-hosts Jedediah Bila and Pete Hegseth. Cain is a longtime ESPN Radio personality and spent five years at “The Worldwide Leader in Sports,” most recently as host of "The Will Cain Show" and as a frequent panelist on the morning debate program "First Take." 

SummitMedia has hired  Randy Chase as senior vice president of programming and program director of  WCYQ-FM country radio in Knoxville, Tennessee. He comes from the Educational Media Foundation where he spent seven years, most recently as VP/Radio. From 2006-2013 he was director of country programming for Cox Media Group and PD of KCYY-FM in San Antonio.
