Hearst has announced that Asad Syrkett has been appointed editor in chief of the U.S. edition of ELLE DECOR, leading content strategy across the brand’s print and digital platforms. Syrkett comes from Hem, an international furniture brand and design studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, where he most recently ran all New York operations. Prior to that, he was deputy editor at the design and cities website Curbed. He has also held editorial positions at Architectural Digest and Architectural Record magazines.
The Real Deal has hired an editor and relocated a reporter:
Meg Wrather has been promoted to managing editor at the Nashville Business Journal. She was most recently the presentation editor at the outlet and before that spent six years as the design editor of the publication, and has been on staff since 2013. Prior to that, Wrather was a designer at Gannett and worked to produce five daily newspapers in the Southeast.
Washington Business Journal reporter Sara Gilgore has moved to cover startups and innovation at the publication. She most recently covered the business of education and has been on staff since 2015. Prior to that, Gilgore was an intern at Education Week and Washingtonian Magazine.
Edward Yim has been named chief content officer for WQXR-FM, New York City's classical music station. His appointment will take effect on September 28. Yim will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision that helps WQXR reach a broader, more inclusive audience. He was most recently the president and CEO of the American Composers Orchestra (ACO), a position he has held since 2017. Prior to that, Yim held senior positions at the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, IMG Artists, and The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association.
KWNR-FM in Henderson, Nevada, has named Mojoe Roberts program director. He most recently served as program director and personality at KUPL-FM in Portland, Oregon, for four years. Roberts has also worked at Cumulus Media at KHOP-FM in Modesto, California, KWIN-FM and KATM in Stockton, California and KQFC in Boise, Idaho.
Dave Andreesen has been promoted to director of programming and operations for WTSN-AM in Dover, New Hampshire, and all news/talk/sports brands at Binnie Media; he was upped from production director. He will continue in his role with WTSN-AM Dover, as well as WTPL-FM, Concord, New Hampshire.
