Halie LeSavage is the new fashion commerce editor at Harper's Bazaar. She comes from Morning Brew, where she was a retail writer and the founding writer of Retail Brew, a 3x weekly retail newsletter published by Morning Brew that reaches 150,000+ subscribers in the retail industry. Prior to that, LeSavage has freelanced for Glamour and Bazaar.com.
Meredith Corp. has hired Sabrina Rojas Weiss as lifestyle and parenting editor. She writes and edits ecommerce stories Parents.com and PEOPLE.com, with a focus on parenting content. Rojas Weiss previously served as parenting editor at SheKnows, senior editor at VH1, and an online editor at MTV. Her bylines have also appeared on Refinery29, Yahoo, Glamour, and more.
Politico reporter Susannah Luthi now covers tech influence and has relocated to California. Most recently, she was covering the health policy beat for the magazine. Luthi has been on staff since 2019, when she joined after two years at Modern Healthcare.
Meg Marco has joined the Observer as editor in chief. The Observer, formerly the New York Observer, plans to relaunch in the next few months under her leadership. Marco will be responsible for hiring a team to cover issues such as business media, arts and real estate. She has previously served as an editor at Axios and The Wall Street Journal.
WSJ. Magazine has promoted three in the Fashion Department:
Tamara Fuentes has joined Cosmopolitan as associate entertainment editor. She comes from Seventeen, where she served as assistant entertainment editor since 2018. Prior to that, Fuentes was an editorial fellow at Hearst and before that interned at TV Guide.
The Columbus Dispatch has tapped Micah Walker as general assignment reporter. Most recently, she covered education, city government and business for The Marion Star in Ohio, and before that worked as a freelance reporter for the Dearborn/Dearborn Heights Press and Guide in Michigan.
Nic Garcia has joined the Des Moines Register as political writer. He comes from the Dallas Star where he covered Dallas County government and other political stories in North Texas as senior writer. Prior to that, Garcia covered statewide politics for The Denver Post.
Sara Peters is the new editor in chief of InformationWeek. She will manage the day to day operations of both InformationWeek and Network Computing. Peters was most recently the features editor at Dark Reading where she covered cybersecurity and produced news and commentary for information security professionals. Before that, she was the editor in chief of Enterprise Efficiency and a senior editor of the Computer Security Institute.
SD Times has named Jenna Sargent news editor. She was previously the online and social media editor for the outlet and has been on staff since 2017. Prior to that, Sargent was a web developer for QuEST Global. SD focuses on the important news events and trends dominating the software development industry.
Ryan Mac has joined The New York Times in Los Angeles as senior technology reporter and will cover tech accountability. He will focus on the manner of tech companies, tech billionaires and their ecosystems of influence. Since 2017, Mac has been a senior technology reporter at BuzzFeed, writing about corporate accountability at Facebook, Google, Tesla and other large companies. Before that, he was a tech reporter at Forbes.
The Wall Street Journal has tapped Jennifer Hiller as an energy reporter covering green power. She spent the past three years at Reuters as an oil and gas reporter covering Exxon Mobil and Chevron. Before that, Hiller spent 12 years at the San Antonio Express-News in various positions, including reporter and deputy business editor.
Elyssa Cherney has joined Crain's Chicago Business as a reporter covering higher education, philanthropy/nonprofits, law, labor and workplace issues. Before that, she was on the Metro desk of the Chicago Tribune covering education. Cherney has also reported for the Orlando Sentinel.
Indianapolis Business Journal has welcomed Emily Ketterer as a reporter cover the State House. She was previously a reporter at the Daily Journal in Franklin, Indiana, and before that spent three years at The Franklin, Franklin College’s campus newspaper.
INSIDER has announced multiple promotions across the newsroom:
Ellen Francis and Adela Suliman have joined the London bureau of the Washington Post as breaking news reporters. Suliman spent the last year on NBC News’s digital team in London covering breaking world news for an American audience. She has also reporter for Reuters and Al Jazeera. Francis most recently served as Reuters’s deputy bureau chief in Beirut, overseeing coverage across Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.
Barron's has welcomed back Greg Bartalos as editor in chief of the Wealth and Asset Management Group. He comes from Institutional Investor where he was the editor in chief of RIA Intel. Before that, he served as editorial director at Air Cargo World and Auto Finance News, and between 2008 and 2017 Bertalos was the editor in chief of barrons.com.
Christine Hall has joined TechCrunch as a reporter covering venture capital and startups. Most recently, she reported on venture capital rounds for Crunchbase News and before that has worked for Houston Business Journal, Pulse magazine (Texas Medical Center), and Community Impact Newspaper. As a freelancer, Hall has contributed to Forbes.com, Opportunity Houston Magazine, Coca-Cola's content hub, and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Bloomberg Law has tapped Maria Cristina Curi as a reporter on cybersecurity and telecom beats, including the FCC. She comes from Inside US Trade, where she was a trade reporter since 2018. Before that, Curi was an editorial intern at Politico.
Silvana Effio has been named weekday anchor at KDEN-TV, the Telemundo station in Denver, Colorado. She replaces Rosy Zugasti, who exited the station in late 2020.Effio co-anchors the 4, 4:30, 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts, alongside Yesmani Gómez. She previously worked at Telemundo Utah, where she helped launch the first Spanish-language newscast in Utah.
Black News Channel (BNC) has hired two correspondents:
Deepa Shivaram has joined NPR's Digital Hub team as a digital producer. She comes from NBC News, where she was a political reporter and covered then-senator Kamal Harris' and Senator Elizabeth Warren's campaigns. She was also a freelance producer for the BBC's Washington Bureau and then freelanced for NBC before joining Meet the Press as an associate producer.
Fox News has hired Andrew Mark Miller as a writer. He comes from the Washington Examiner where he was deputy social media editor. Before that, he was managing editor at Young Conservatives and marketing coordinator at Sherpa.
