Consumer Reports has hired Angela Lashbrook as a writer/reporter. She was most recently a columnist at Medium and wrote the Microprocessing column, which addressed the details of the human relationship with technology. Before that, Kashbrook was a freelance writer and wrote about science, health, tech, and books, for The Outline, VICE, Vox, The Atlantic, NYLON, and other outlets.
Sara Libby has joined the San Francisco Chronicle as politics editor overseeing coverage from the Bay Area, Sacramento and Washington, D.C. She comes to The Chronicle from Voice of San Diego, a nonprofit investigative news outlet, where she has been managing editor.
The Washington Post has promoted Juliet Eilperin to deputy climate and environment editor. She oversees coverage of the struggle to manage a changing climate, with a special focus on efforts to transform the fossil fuel-dependent economy and rein in greenhouse gas emissions. For the past four years, Eilperin has been a senior national correspondent covering climate and environment. Before coming to The Post, Eilperin covered the Hill for Roll Call and the now-defunct States News Service.
Lara Walsh has been promoted to associate experiences editor at Elite Daily. She was most recently a news writer for the site and joined the staff in April 2018. Before that, Walsh freelanced for The Everygirl and Insider, and has previously also served as a news writer at InStyle.
Editorialist has promoted Harry Archer to assistant fashion editor, upped from editorial assistant. In his new role, Archer pitches and writes luxury-focused style content for the website, app, and weekly newsletter. He joined the staff in 2020 after two years as a sales assistant at TOAST.
Scott Robson has joined G/O Media as the editor in chief of the A.V. Club. He spent the past two years at the editor in chief of the Los Angeles Business Journal and prior to that served as VP of content operations at Nielsen's Gracenote. Robinson has also served as editor in chief of Yahoo! Entertainment where he re-invented content and strategy across Yahoo Movies, Yahoo TV, Yahoo Music and Yahoo Celebrity (formerly known as OMG).
Teen VOGUE has promoted Claire Dodson to senior entertainment editor and will cover the culture section, including music, movies, TV, books, and celebrities. She was most recently the entertainment editor at the publication and has been on staff since 2018. Dodson is also a freelance writer and has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, InStyle, The Strategist, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Racked, O The Oprah Magazine, Vice, Rolling Stone, and other publications.
Annie Blay has joined The Zoe Report as an associate beauty news editor. She most recently had a brief stint as a social media coordinator at Moda Operandi, and before that worked as a beauty and fashion freelance writer at ELLE and POPSUGAR.
The Los Angeles Times has hired two reporters on the Metro Desk:
Sarah Zimmerman has joined Supply Chain Drive as an associate editor to cover national supply chain. She comes to the publication from Crain's Chicago Business where she most recently she served as deputy digital editor. Before that, Zimmerman was a reporter for the Associated Press in Oregon.
Matthew Hiksa has joined The Real Deal as a Silicon Valley/San Francisco reporter covering commercial and residential real estate. Most recently, he was a commercial real estate reporter at the Silicon Valley Business Journal, and before that served as a business reporting intern at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
CoinDesk has hired an editor and a reporter:
Timothy Boone has been promoted to business editor at The Advocate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He spent the past nine years as a business writer at the outlet and has been on staff since 2012. Before that, Boone was the online news editor at the Baton Rouge Business Report and a business reporter for the Biloxi Sun-Herald.
Debtwire has re-assigned reporter Catherine Perloff to cover leveraged finance and distress in the energy sector. She most recently covered the telecom and middle market beats and has been on staff since January 2020. Prior to that, Perloff was a stringer.
The Wall Street Journal has appointed Bourree Lam as deputy coverage chief of the new Life & Work vertical. She was previously the personal finance bureau chief at The Journal for two years and before that spent two years as the senior editor for Work & Money at Refeinery29. Lam has also worked at The Atlantic as associate editor and at WNYC Radio as assistant producer.
Nicole Dolan has joined the Kansas City Business Journal as a full-time reporter after spending the past four months as a reporting intern for the publication. She is a recent journalism graduate from the University of Kansas and has also interned as the Lawrence Journal-World.
Bloomberg has welcomed Marissa Horn as digital editor covering emerging news products and automation. She was previously a digital editor at Bloomberg Law and a digital editor of Bloomberg Environment before that. Horn has also previously worked for Capital News Service as education reporter.
Eric Phillips has joined WRIC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia, as an anchor. He was previously at the Christian Broadcast Network where he was the National Security Correspondent and White House Correspondent in Washington, D.C. Before working at CBN, Philips worked for CNN and stations in Atlanta, Charlotte, Norfolk and Salisbury, Maryland.
Sarah Burke will return to CBS Stations Sept. 27, this time as vice president and news director of CBS News and Television Stations’ local businesses in the New York City market, including WCBS, WLNY, CBSN New York and CBSNewYork.com. Most recently, she was the assistant news director at WLS-TV in Chicago and before that worked as executive producer at WCBS-WLNY.
MSNBC has announced a daytime program shakeup:
Fox Business Network has signed Madison Alworth as a New York-based correspondent. She comes to FBN after three years as a reporter and anchor for WTSP-TV in Tampa, Florida. Prior to that, Alworth served as a producer and on-air reporter for the live streaming financial news network, Cheddar News.
