The Los Angeles Times has promoted Samantha Melbourneweaver to assistant managing editor for audience, upped from audience engagement director a position she's held since joining the LA Times in 2018. Before joining the paper, Melbourneweaver was the social media director for Southern California News Group, where she oversaw social media profiles and content for 11 Southern California news properties.

David Migoya has joined The Denver Gazette as a senior investigative reporter. He spent the past two decades at The Denver Post and was a founding member of the paper's investigations team. In the span of his 38-yar career Migoya has also worked at publications in New York City, St. Louis, and Detroit.

Axios has tapped George Moriarty as senior editor for Axios Pro. He comes to the outlet from InvestmentNews, where he was the chief content officer for three years. Moriarty has also held leadership positions at Seeking Alpha, Merrill Lynch, and TheStreet.com.

The Wall Street Journal has promoted Gabriel T. Rubin to national economics reporter with a focus on student debt. Rubin was most recently a Washington wire writer at The Journal, a position he has held since 2019. Prior to that, he reported for Morning Consult and also served as the editor in chief of Washington University Political Review.

Insider has hired an editor and a reporter:

  • Jason Lalljee has joined the outlet as a reporter covering economy policy. He was most recently an intern on USA Today's Opinion Desk writing about Covid-19.
  • Sage Lazzaro has joined the staff as editor working on enterprise and technology coverage. She comes to Insider from VentureBeat where she was a senior reporter covering artificial intelligence, enterprise technologies, data privacy and security. As a freelancer she has contributed to WIRED, OneZero, VICE, Refinery29, Bustle, Men's Health, Supercluster, and more.

CQ Roll Call has named John T. Bennett editor at large. He spent the past several months working as a contributing editor at the outlet and has also served as editor for CQ Budget Tracker an as White House correspondent. Prior to that, Bennett was the Washington bureau chief and columnist at The Independent.

New York Times reporter Jack Ewing has relocated to the paper's New York newsroom to cover the auto industry and the transition to electric cars. He was most recently a European economics reporter out of the Frankfurt bureau and has been at The Times since 2010. Prior to that, Ewing spent a decade at Businessweek as European editor, and as reporter for Bloomberg wires for five years before that.

Megan Howard has been promoted to deputy team leader at Bloomberg News in Washington, D.C.  covering breaking news in the capital. She has been on the breaking news team since September 2019 as a reporter and before that served as a congressional reporter for Bloomberg Government.

Kellie Mejdrich has joined Law360 as a senior reporter covering employee benefits. She spent the past two years as a financial services reporter at Politico and before that worked at CQ as a transportation reporter, and budget reporter. Mejdrich also reported for the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Register.

Pensions & Investments has tapped Palash Ghosh as a reporter covering the business of money management. He was most recently a reporter for Forbes where he covered the economy, markets, and finance. Prior to that, Ghosh was a markets columnist for Dow Jones Newswires; an editor for the International Business Times; and a senior editor and financial reporter at Standard & Poor’s.

Crain's New York Business has announced a promotion and three new hires:

  • Telisha Bryan has been promoted to managing editor, upped from assistant managing editor. She has been on staff since 2017, when she joined as copy desk chief and has also served as senior editor on the Health Pulse team.
  • Anne Michaud has succeeded Bryan and joined the staff as assistant managing editor. She was previously the audience voice reporter at The Wall Street Journal's and has also worked as an opinion editor at Newsday.
  • Taylor Nakagawa has joined the staff as digital editor. She comes to Crain's from The Wall Street Journal where she spent two years as audience interaction producer.
  • Brandon Sanchez has joined the staff as climate reporter. He was previously on staff at The Wall Street Journal, where he curated the WSJ Notes on the News and Diversity+Business newsletters.

Intelligencer has hired Kevin T. Dugan as a reporter  covering markets and money with an emphasis on Wall Street and cryptocurrency. He spent the past year working on a freelancer basis for New York magazine and has contributed features for Intelligencer and Curbed. Before that, Dugan has freelanced for The New York Times, Fortune, and Insider Inc.

Bloomberg Technology has hired Joe Williams as a reporter covering enterprise software and workplace tools. He joins Bloomberg from Protocol, where he was a senior reporter covering enterprise software and industry giants like Salesforce, Microsoft, and Oracle. Prior to that, Williams worked for Business Insider as a senior reporter on the artificial intelligence beat.

Aman Sethi has joined BuzzFeed as technology reporter. He was most recently the director editorial content at Coda Media, an online crisis news reporting platform, and prior to that was the editor in chief of HuffPost India. Sethi has also worked as an editor at Hindustan Times and a special project editor at The Quint.

Axios has welcomed Peter Allen Clark as technology editor. He spent the past for years at TIME magazine as news editor, and most recently, as business and technology editor. Before that, Clark has written for Variety and also served as deputy culture editor at Mashable.

Henry Epp, a reporter for Vermont Public Radio, is now a full time reporter for the station covering economic, business and infrastructure issues in Vermont. He will continue hosting the "All Things Considered Program", which he has hosted since 2017. Before that, Epp worked at New England Public Radio for five years.

CNN+ has hired Maria LaMagna Morales as senior editor of content programming. Most recently, she was an engagement editor at MarketWatch.com and before that served as a general assignment reporter at CNBC and a web producer and social media editor at Bloomberg Law.

Steffani Nolte is the new news director at ABC-owned KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska, She spent the past five years as the chief photographer. Prior to that, Nolte worked at stations in Iowa, Wisconsin, and South Carolina.

WLNS-TV, the CBS station in in Lansing, Michigan, has promoted Andrew Birkle to digital content manager. He's been the sports photographer since 2019 and before that reported for Focal Point, Michigan State’s award-winning weekly TV show. 

Michele Newell has joined ABC's WSB-TV in Atlanta as a reporter. She has worked at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, since 2018, and before that worked at WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio.

KTBC-TV, the Fox station in Austin, Texas, has promoted Kevin McPherson to VP and news director. He spent the past 22 years as the assistant news director at the station. This is his third stint at the station and has also previously served as a photographer in Dallas and a prayer at Fox News Channel.

Keith St. Peter is the new senior executive producer for KNXV-TV, the ABC station in Phoenix, Arizona. He was most recently the news director at WBRE/WYOU-TV in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and before that worked as the managing editor at WHIO-TV in Dayton, Ohio.
