The Director of Corporate Strategy is a senior member of the Corporate Strategy team reporting to the Chief Growth Officer and partnering with rest of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to:
Develop long-term (3Y) and near-term (1Y) company strategy
Run internal consulting projects (strategy development & execution)
Summarize and communicate the strategy for the Exec, Board and wider company
Evaluate the competitive landscape and assist in M&A activities
What You’ll Be Doing:
Partner with the ELT to help set the strategic direction for the company
Work with the business to define strategies and drive execution of complex, cross-functional and high impact initiatives
Help lead the cross-functional and cross-country strategic planning process, ensuring clear expectations, quality strategy development and buy-in from all parts of the company
Take a lead role in preparing Board and company-wide presentations
Oversee complex financial modelling and lead teams to discover, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets to perform strategic analysis and research
Where necessary, face off to external consultants as the lead contact within Cision
Work with the Chief Growth Officer to maintain a world class strategy team and working environment
Able to be both player and coach. Will build out strategy function over time, including hiring and developing junior resources
The Director will be primarily responsible for working with Corporate Development colleagues and Cision’s senior leadership teams to identify, evaluate, and execute potential corporate transactions in support of the company’s strategy.
Identify, assess, synthesize, and prepare recommendations relating to the strategic and financial impact on Cision from potential transactions.
Assist and liaise with Platinum Equity in all aspects of transaction execution including project management, due diligence, valuation and documentation.
Apply creativity and judgement in producing and updating financial models, plans, valuations, impact analyses and sensitivities
Prepare and deliver presentations to Senior Management team
Work collaboratively and analytically with senior members of the Financial Reporting team, Commercial teams of the agencies, senior management and
Undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis
Significant experience in a top tier strategy consultancy, PE/VC, corporate finance or in a high growth technology business
Proven track record in strategy consulting or internal corporate strategy team with rapid personal progression
Record of success in developing and implementing business unit and / or corporate strategy
Robust drive, work ethic, and leadership skills including high levels of self-motivation and self-review needed.
A self-starter needing minimal strategic direction to perform day to day responsibilities
Excellence in framing problems and structuring programs of research and analysis to answer critical questions
Experience in sizing market opportunities in areas of limited data
Base level of digital acuity in some aspects of new tech could include depth and /or project experience in data, analytics, automation, Artificial Intelligence, experience or cloud
Developed change management skills and ability to find senior leader sponsorship
Global outlook and dedication to diversity and inclusion
Curiosity, commitment to learning and development, and ability to learn fast
Flexible and should be fine with traveling, though not extensive
Outstanding communications skills --- written and verbal
Possess high standard of integrity and confidentiality
Experience with M&A process
Excellent academic record with MBA desirable
