CisionBlog welcomes the new Cision Navigator!

Online community for PR professionals re-launched with new and enhanced features and content

Cision just launched a new and enhanced version of its Cision Navigator website and CisionBlog would like to offer the virtual welcome basket to its new neighbor!

“The Nav” (as we affectionately call the site here at Cision) is an online community for public relations professionals. Its new mission is to establish an open online community that combines the daily media updates with articles, white papers and blog posts from Cision thought leaders, research staff and outside industry experts; social media links and research; new outlet information; media spotlights on influential journalists; and an enhanced operating platform. The new Web 2.0 functionality will enable subscribers to customize site content to suit their preferences, rate articles, and create a community that improves online dialogue among Cision, PR professionals and the media.

Navigator Editorial Director Andrea Weinfurt guides the content of the site and is excited to offer expanded information to help PR professionals. “Our editorial staff is composed of members of our research department. They not only write for the site but perform industry research, making our content truly a step above the competition. We’re really lucky to have a talented staff that includes ‘both sides of the fence’ – some of our writers come from the world of public relations while others have a journalism background.”

The site will still feature the public streaming of updates on moves and changes in thousands of media outlets. The constantly refreshed content features free RSS feeds on top editorial changes in special interest communities, including health care, technology, lifestyle and business and finance.

“Our biggest goal in launching the new Navigator was to bring PR people together,” explained Navigator designer Brandon Andersen. “The new features enable PR professionals to engage in a dialogue with each other.  The articles will provide a great foundation for conversation and from there, who knows what topics will be discussed?  It’s going to be exciting to watch the community grow.”

Andrea also encourages seasoned PR pros to submit Expert Articles to the site. Submissions can be emailed to andrea dot weinfurt at cision dot com and the guidelines are simple: “First and foremost, expert articles must pertain to the industry. Our audience includes seasoned public relations veterans as well as young professionals. Expert articles are meant to provide insight into the media relations industry and spark creativity in our audience. ”

Cision Navigator’s full range of content is available free to users who submit a simple online registration form.
