Prior to pitching Campanelli, be sure to research the kinds of stories he writes and become familiar with the publication. Send all pitches via e-mail. Campanelli advises PR professionals not to make “blind” phone pitches. “It’s difficult to jump back in when you’re disturbed like that,” he says. “That’s why I prefer e-mail – you can go through all those at a set time.” Follow-up calls are not necessary unless he requests them. He does not have a specific deadline, but the sooner he receives information, the better.
