This week we announced that Viralheat has closed a Series A round of funding from the Mayfield Fund. We have a lot of exciting things in the works and this takes us that much closer to bringing those things to you.
Vishal and I started Viralheat in 2009 we knew that social media was the key to a new kind of conversation between companies and consumers and in turn change the way business is conducted. There needed to be a way to monitor the many conversations that were happening, analyze them into something more actionable.
When Viralheat was launched, we believed everyone–not just big companies–should have access to this technology allowing them to understand and engage with social media. The problem with existing solutions on the market was that they were too expensive, hard to use, and required a lot of training. They also didn’t deliver insights…just mounds of raw data, reports, and dashboards that were more of a headache than a lifesaver.
Viralheat changed that by delivering a wide variety of insights that allowed marketers to optimize their outreach. The result was Viralheat being wildly disruptive, and over the course of the last year grew rapidly to over 1,500 customers in 61 countries worldwide by entirely being bootstrapped. While we have been very fortunate to be profitable for most of our existence, we raised a round funding because Viralheat has a baked out revenue model, a killer roadmap, and we believe we can benefit from the increased scale.
We see a future that empowers brands to size up social media with clear and concise analytics and intelligence. Viralheat users will be able to engage with their customers in a scalable way. To help you achieve that, we’ll help you integrate social media into your existing workflow by: tracking relevant conversations, identifying customer intent, and making that intent actionable.
