#MLB Playoff Series Drama Continues
A few weeks ago, my colleague, Sutira Phrakaysone, covered the excitement of game 162 of the MLB regular season. It proved to be a dramatic finish with huge playoff implications for both the Tampa Bay Rays and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The excitement carried over into the National and American division league series as eight teams vying for the World Series championship duked it out to advance to their respective league series championship.
Taking a quick peek at Visible Intelligence, it was no surprise that the division league share of voice belonged to one of baseball’s most popular team—the Yankees. But to my surprise, the smallest sliver of the pie went to the Rays, whom, if you recall, staged that incredible comeback against the Yankees (after the Red Sox faltered to the Orioles) to clinch the AL wild card berth.
As we look at the post volumes for Game 1 of both divisions, I find it interesting that the Yankees and the Phillies, with the advantage in post volumes over the Tigers and Cardinals, did not advance.
Meanwhile, the Brewers and the Rangers dominated post volumes over the Rays and D-Backs and are now playing in their respective league series championship.
So, here we are … heading into Game 3 of the league series championship and the Brewers and Cards are knotted up at one game apiece. I could barely stand to watch last night’s 11-inning drama of the Tigers and Rangers as the Rangers upped their ALCS edge over the Tigers to 2-0.
What’s your prediction? Tell us in the comments who you think will advance to the World Series. And be sure to check back with this blog as I’ll keep a pulse on the Twitter conversation as #MLB playoffs continue.
