Cision unwraps early holiday present for its users
When Google’s Chrome browser became the second most popular browser earlier this month, we don’t think many people were shocked. Even though Google didn’t get into the browser market until 2008, the internet juggernaut has quickly gained steam with Chrome by streamlining web search capabilities into the address bar making it easier for people to find what they are looking for – fast. Figures show people are now starting to use Chrome to actually surf the web as well.
Google’s success with Chrome, aided by the product’s speed, underscores the shake-up in the browser market—once considered all but locked up by Microsoft, which includes Internet Explorer with its Windows operating system. It also has added to the company’s clout because as a browser maker it can help define the kinds of new graphical features that can be used by sites across the Web as well as helping Google funnel Web surfers to its dominant Internet-search engine, the top driver of Google’s revenue.
With all of the popularity of Google Chrome, it wasn’t long before users of our campaign management software, CisionPoint, started asking for us to support the browser. Today we’re excited to announce that CisionPoint not only supports Google Chrome, but is now offering a Chrome Extension and enhanced functionality for users of CisionPoint on Google Chrome.
With the Cision Chrome extension, you can easily look up key influencers as you come across them on the web without having to log into a separate application. The Cision Chrome extension lives in the corner of your Chrome browser and allows you to search for influencers without leaving the website you are on.
Search for any media contact and you will be given a list of possible matches to that person’s name. Not sure how to spell the media contact’s name? Not sure if they go by Walt or Walter? No problem. The Cision Google Chrome extension deciphers misspellings and variants on names. So your search for “Walt Mosberg” will return Walter Mossberg’s profile information.
Each contact’s profile includes their Twitter handle, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses. The profile also includes their Cision Influencer Score, a list of outlets they work at, the topics they cover, and their professional bio, including pitching tips.
Found a profile but want to find others similar to it? Click on a topic, outlet or location and you can see other top influencers that match that criteria as well.
We hope you find the Cision Google Chrome extension to be a useful tool and would love to hear your feedback on it!
UPDATE: Open the following link in Google Chrome to install the Cision Chrome extension. You will need an existing CisionPoint account to log in.
