“HARO Got Me Four National TV Appearances!” Lisa’s Success Story
HARO got Lisa De Fazio on national morning TV. Four times.
Over the last two years, Lisa has launched a successful career as a media dietician, using HARO to help her at every step of the way.
“I trained as a dietician,” she explains. “But I always wanted to do television. I was born and raised in Hollywood, where my father was a television dentist with his own cable show. So after working at a healthcare organization for ten years, I took some TV hosting classes and started pursuing my dream.”
Pursuing her dream, however, required Lisa to build up a media profile from scratch – which is where HARO came in.
“Three weeks after responding to the HARO query, I was on a plane to Florida to shoot four national television appearances. I did not expect that to happen.”
“I was hiring a media management company to get me news placements,” says Lisa. “Then, one day, I asked a reporter how she’d found me. She told me my media manager used HARO, and explained the site to me. When I realized I could subscribe on my own, I started writing my own responses. That was about a year ago. Every day, I get my three HARO emails on my phone – I can check it when I’m waiting in the car to pick up my son, or when I’m making dinner – and I reply right away.”
“I respond to seven or eight queries and get one media placement per week on average,” she says. “Last week I had two hits: Total Beauty and Helium.com. Every time I get an appearance, I can put that outlet’s logo on my site. That builds my credibility. It shows the next reporter or producer who I am and what I can do.”
This August, Lisa got her best HARO hit yet.
“The Daily Buzz – the national morning TV show – put out a HARO query asking for articles for their new Body Checklist website,” she says. “They needed a nutritionist so I responded like I always do. When the producer looked at my website and saw all of my media coverage and TV appearances, she asked me to write a series of 15 weekly articles, with my picture and bio added to the site as a regular expert.
“I agreed – and then I asked her if I could come out there and shoot a bunch of segments. Three weeks later, I was on a plane to Florida.”
“I shot four appearances on the Daily Buzz,” she says. “That one HARO response turned into four national television segments. They got a great expert and I got to be on a national morning TV show. Since then, I’ve been able to sign with a talent agent, and this January I signed a deal to do an infomercial.”
“Through HARO, my media coverage has just built and built and built,” Lisa says. “Now, when reporters search for my name, they see 15, 20 pages with me on them, which I got through HARO for no cost. For building your credibility, it’s priceless. I actually got more on my own with HARO than I would have got for $20,000 in media management fees.”
Impressed? We certainly are. You can get this type of publicity too by signing up as a HARO source here.
