Top national blogs according to us

Handling Comms During COVID-19? We've compiled our best resources.

It’s needless to say there are a lot of blogs circulating in the blogosphere. But only 10 of them made the Vocus Media Research’s criteria for top national blogs. Based on circulation, audience, influence and reach, here are our picks for top blogs:

Huffington Post – In reach and popularity, HuffPo is the world’s largest news blog. It is extremely connected to its audience online, and continues to grow by drawing well-known talent from traditional media and voracious readers from social media platforms. – The most visited gossip site on the Internet, it has also become a reliable source for breaking news regarding celebrities and entertainment.

Mashable – Competition may be growing in this space, but Mashable is still the reigning king of social media news. Even non-social media types regularly check in to see what’s new.

Gawker – With multiple sites feeding into its online empire, Gawker covers every aspect of pop culture imaginable – from sports and women’s issues to gadgets and gaming. Among Gawker’s Web properties are the ultra-popular blogs Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Kotaku.

TheDailyBeast – This site is a hip, comprehensive mash-up of news, current events, politics, entertainment, and commentary. Its connection to Newsweek gives it equal doses of timeliness and mass appeal.

Engadget – There’s always a new handheld, mobile or compact device on the horizon.  Engadget wins almost 2 million unique visitors per month by cutting through the chatter with top-notch expert reviews and previews of all things shiny.

TechCrunch – A highly trusted source of news and information about technology start-ups, it also tracks the changing nature of companies making a mark on the Web. TechCrunch has been around since 2005 and was bought by Aol last year.

PerezHilton – As one of the top celebrity gossip blogs on the Internet, Hilton’s commentary draws readers and attract advertisers.

Confessions of a Pioneer Woman – There are many popular so-called “mommy bloggers” on the Internet, but few will ever reach the standard set by Ree Drummond and her blog. A virtual online celebrity, she tackles topics like parenting and cooking from a mostly idyllic setting on her family’s ranch.

Joystiq – Serious gamers, as well as casual ones, depend on products reviews to aid them in their purchases. Joystiq fills that need with a monster of a gaming blog that updates almost constantly with full gaming news, reviews, podcasts, and commentary.
