Featured: Five popular sports blogs

As we settle into the football season, wrap up the baseball season and look ahead to the start of basketball, inVocus asked sports enthusiasts to name their favorites sport blogs. Here are five that made the list for your pitching delight:

Basketball.RealGM.com: Focusing on basketball, RealGM provides NBA news, player news, rumors, statistics and trades. “I also like RealGM. It’s very organized and accessible. I love how one can get everything he or she wants on a team all aggregated into one place,” said McCade Child, who works in the communications department at PoliticIt.

Kegs N Eggs: This sports entertainment site features the tagline: “College football on tap.” And as its name would indicate, Kegs N Eggs strives to be fun by providing news, as well as follies and other humorous tidbits from the world of college football. “Although Adam Kramer doesn’t get to post as much as here as he used to (since taking over as a full-time writer at Bleacher Report), when he does, it is always with his unique brand of wit and sarcasm,” said Aaron Torres, author of “The Unlikeliest Champion” and co-managing editor of CrystalBallRun.com. “Whether he’s posting a goofy video, gambling stuff or a GIF of a ‘Fat Guy Touchdown’ (his words, not mine!), Adam always delivers. In turn, so too does Kegs N Eggs.”

LostAngelesBlog: This blog focuses on college and professional sports teams in the L.A. area, offering commentary and humor. “USC’s Arrogant Nation got its start here and it’s been killing it during the NCAA sanctions. ‘You can’t sanction the end zone’ was just the mentality USC fans needed!” said Kristal D. Bailey, editor in chief of ScreenInvasion.com.

Midwest Sports Fans: Focusing on sports teams from the heartland, this blog provides the latest on games, scores and players with more than a splash of humor. “The guys over at Midwest Sports Fans do as good a job as anyone in the independent blogging realm of being able to cover all the breaking news stories, in all the major sports,” said Torres. “The Big Lead and others may have more of a ‘brand name’ at this point, but I’d put what Jerrod Morris and his staff are doing up against them, or anyone else in the industry right now.”

TerezOwens.com: A popular sports entertainment blog, TerezOwens.com dishes on rumors and scandals. “I’m partial to it because it’s funny-as the name suggests, a gossip sort of site for those of us who enjoy reading about athletes and their shenanigans off the field,” said Elizabeth Franz, a content manager with DS Beauty Group. “That I’m aware, there really isn’t anything like this out there. At least nothing that’s done well.”
