Launch Grow Joy

Starting a new business is hard work, and not everyone is cut out to be a successful entrepreneur. But for those willing to put in the effort, there are resources out there to help make the process easier—especially in today’s increasingly digital universe. The blog Launch Grow Joy aims to be one of those resources for small businesses, by offering advice, tips and strategies to help startups gain interest and eyeballs through earned media.

The site’s owner and author Andreea Ayers, an entrepreneur herself, experienced firsthand the trials and tribulations of starting a business, and decided to offer her insights to others. She realized early on that the key to gaining a successful following is to gain media attention.

“Media plays a huge role in bolstering small business growth,” Ayers said. “When I had my t-shirt line and my t-shirts were covered in the media, especially national outlets, I saw a direct and immediate increase in sales. Without media you can’t get the visibility you need to grow your business.”

That t-shirt line, Tees for Change, was Ayers’ first successful business venture, which led to other entrepreneurs seeking out her advice. She later wrote a book on how to start and grow a business. Launch Grow Joy stemmed from that experience.

“I realized that selling a t-shirt is very similar to selling other types of products, so I expanded my coaching and consulting to working with entrepreneurs,” she said. “And that’s how Launch Grow Joy was born. When someone comes to the site, they will find lots of info about launching their business, growing it smartly and finding the joy in it all.”

The blog features tips to market via social media, gain the attention of influential journalists, and content writing—while also providing the option to purchase marketing products or hire Ayers directly for her services. Wearing so many hats has allowed Ayers to grow understand the needs of people coming to the site and seeking guidance.

“I think that working as a business owner and a blogger is a great advantage because I do, test and experience all of the things that I advise my clients to do.”

The site has also been beneficial to bloggers and small business owners alike, Ayers said.

“The site is mainly targeted towards entrepreneurs who have a product line, but there are now lots of bloggers who are starting to read it as well,” she said. “Almost everything can be applicable to every type of entrepreneur, including bloggers.”

Making the Pitch

Ayers says she does accept pitches, including those from writers interested in guest blogging for Launch Grow Joy. But make sure pitches are relevant.

“What I like are pitches where people have taken the time to look through my content to make sure it’s a good fit,” she said. “What I don’t like are pitches from companies who are just trying to get backlinks and get ranked for keywords and that’s why they’re approaching me to guest post.”
