Browsing the web can be a great way to gather information, kill some time, or seek entertainment. However, this task can also be daunting. The web is a source of many things. If you’re a web junkie like me, you’ve probably come to realize that web extensions are your best friend. They can save you time, simplify your web browsing experience, and help you multitask.
When setting up extensions, I turn to Chrome. It’s a simple, fast and effective web browser and an excellent Google tool. According to StatCounter, it is the world’s most popular web browser. One of my favorite place to visit in my off time is Facebook. The Facebook bookmark in Chrome is an extension that allows you to quickly view notifications, invitations to events, post in groups, view friend requests, and messages. You must be logged into Facebook to view these notifications and it’s handy to see a Facebook notification while I might be browsing another site. I can quickly determine if I need to address it or carry on browsing the web.
Any multitasking web ninja also needs a great calendar to stay organized and that’s why I love having the Google calendar extension. Browse Facebook and notice an important event come in? No problem. Accept the invite and then add it to your calendar. You can also share your calendar and sync it with your mobile device. Need a reminder about that Facebook event? The extension allows you to set up text and email alerts. You can also work offine. What’s not to love about the Google calender?
If you’re browsing online, you’re probably also gathering data. The Google Drive extension is a great way to share, collaborate, and store data on the go. Install the extension to store whatever you might be browsing at the current time so that it can be searched for and tracked later on your desktop or mobile phone.
Did you know that Viralheat also has an extension in the Chrome Web Store? It’s Election Day. Are you anxiously tracking the race? Our Social Sentiment plugin gives you a real-time analysis right at your fingertips. Install this plugin to get real-time tweet and message counts, and detailed breakdowns of positive/neutral/negative posts on social media profiles, fan pages and searches. Stay one step ahead of any trends and make your own determinations by viewing Twitter and Facebook reactions and other web related data.
Take a break from your online adventures with a game of Angry Birds. You know you want to vent your frustrations on a few poor pigs and laugh along while the birds launch into the air for their attack. Luckily, there’s an extension for that. It’s free to play with free upgrades unlike the mobile app so play to your heart’s content!
