How To: Successfully Launch Your Product on Social Media

Is your company launching a new product? Are you looking to draw attention to an existing product? Social media can be a great way to bring attention to any product or concept your company has made or is currently in the process of making. You no longer have to wait for press release since social media allows you to be your own press and control the hype and buzz around your brand new “thing.”

Here are some fun and creative ways to build buzz around your product and get your audience excited.

Create a teaser campaign: With tools like Vine and Instagram, you can quickly create mini teasers about your products and utilize two of the hottest tools right now. Show snapshots of the products and try to make people guess what the product(s) might be. Make it more exciting by turning the videos into a contest and offering it up to the first 10 or so people that guess correctly.

Create a hashtag: Get the buzz going on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ with a hashtag to promote the new product and track the conversation. Spice up the hashtag with the videos we just talked about, hints, clues, and keep the guessing game going on other platforms.

Have someone interview you: Create a fun interview and post it on your YouTube channel. Show a shot of the products and blur out the image. Create hype and drop a few keywords about what the products will do, how it will enhance the users life (if relevant), and other details your audience will enjoy and get psyched about.

Build a fan site or a Facebook page: If applicable, build a web page or Facebook page strictly devoted to any news about the product. This is a quick and easy way to engage fan interest and learn what elements of the campaign are particularly interesting to them and what to look for in further product launches.

Create “Coming Soon” posters: Have a professional photographer take several shots of the products and then have a graphics team work up some creative slogans. Don’t have access to those resources? This can easily be done with a smart phone and a few text labeling apps to create your own viral posters. Post these photos a few days before launch or maybe even a month out to let people know something new is coming out especially if your page is dead and there hasn’t been much buzz lately. These types of posts will definitely get your audience engaged and talking.
