Amity Kapadia and Mioara Dragan were two young woman living in the Detroit area who bonded over their unique names and love for fashion. Yet, they had never met. Through Twitter, the two became friends, discussing the latest gossip, style and beauty trends. That friendship later turned into Cream & Sugar, Please, a blog focusing on all the things they loved to chat about over coffee. We are excited to talk to them about their tips as new bloggers, and how they decide what to cover.

Q: Tell us a little about your backgrounds, and where your love for fashion/beauty/photography came from!
We’re both social media and fashion junkies, so it only made sense for us to start a blog together. In fact, we met on Twitter and were both interested in doing something creative involving life and style, so we took the plunge and started Cream & Sugar, Please.

Q: When did you launch the blog?
We’re newbies! We just launched in October 2013, so we’re about 3 months old. We’re learning something new and growing into our blog every day – it’s a lot of work but with a lot of love behind it!

Q: What are some tricks to managing both the writing/creative side of a blog as well as the marketing/PR side?
We strive to stay true to our brand voice and individual style, while still focusing on what makes us stand out – photography, style, creativity – and keeping everything fun and fresh! This means working with brands that respect this and want to collaborate with us, not just pay for content. Our best “trick” is to always take a step back and ask ourselves three questions – Would I read this? What’s the point? How do I feel after reading it?

Q: What is something most people might not know about you?
We’ve only known each other (in real life) for four months!

Q: What are the hot fashion trends you’re loving right now?
Amity: I’m OBSESSED with faux leather right now – pants, jackets, dresses, you name it! I love how easily leather pairs with different textures and fabrics, you can be glam, edgy, or classic – all with the same piece. Mioara: I’m in love with pencil dresses! I feel like they are the national anthem of womenswear. They’ve been around forever and will continue to do so for many years to come so I know I can stock up without feeling guilty. ASOS sells really cute ones of great quality so I’m constantly checking up on their site for new stock!

Q: What are some of the best opportunities you’ve had as fashion/beauty bloggers?
As newbies, we’re just starting to work with sponsors, brands and other bloggers. So far, our claim to fame is being featured on one of our partner brand’s home pages, that was pretty neat!

Q: What are some of the most challenging aspects?
The most challenging thing we face is cutting through the noise. There are so many other lifestyle blogs out there that we have to always be thinking about what will make us stand out and connect with readers in a new way.

Q: What are you PR pet peeves?
When brands reach out to us without having done any research on us – we don’t expect brands to know every single detail about us, but at least visit our site and know whether our blog is a fit for your brand.

Q: Any tips for PR professionals who want to get in contact with you?
We’re always looking to partner with PR pros, brands, and bloggers that match our style! The best way to get in touch with us is to email us at hello@creamandsugarplease.com.
