Staff Shuffle at New York’s Daily News

The Daily News has undergone staff changes. Editorial director, digital Lauren Johnston  since April 2013 has left the paper to join Yahoo! News as managing editor. Additionally, Kristen Lee has been promoted to director of digital development. She was previously digital integration editor since June 2013. Lee joined the outlet in June 2012 as online political reporter. Also, Brad Gerick has been named director of social media. He had served as social media manager since June 2013. Lastly, Simone Weichselbaum will exit the Daily News’ Brooklyn, New York bureau at the end of June. She is joining a new start-up called The Marshall Project. This forthcoming non-profit news organization will cover the criminal justice system and is set to launch the second half of 2014. Weichselbaum joined The Daily News in June 2008.
