Tip of the Month: The power of Visible Intelligence Categories
Ever wonder how to easily and consistently slice and dice through large amounts of content provided through your brand or topical searches? Want to find trends and meaning in a specific segment without creating a new search?
The answer may be in the creation of categories. Best part of all: you can start with the existing Visible-defined “Common Categories” library to jump-start your efforts.
First let’s look at how to define these powerhouses. Then we’ll take a look at how to use them.
From the settings tab (gear icon) select Categories.
The Categories Panel provides the means to create your own Categories or to add any or all of Visible’s common categories.
To view and add the available common categories, click the ‘Add Common Categories’ link below the ‘New Category button under the monitor tab.
After you click this link, a new dialogue box will populate with a list of available categories. Choose the ones you’d like to use by checking the box in front of the category and click “Add Categories”.
A great example of a common category is “VI2 Customer Service”. This particular category is very useful for tracking customer service conversations, allowing you to see what is important or problematic to your customers. If you want to tweak the common category you can do so by editing and saving your changes. This will not affect the original category and if you don’t like the edits you’ve made, you can delete the common category and then use the process above to start back with the Visible-defined category. You can even organize your Categories into Folders for easy access.
Once defined, the categories will display on the Monitor tab in the categories panel on the left below your list of searches (in the folders you’ve defined). Simply select a category to have it provide the segment of the data for your given search. You can even select different searches with the Category selected to see its impact across your competitive set, as an example.
You can also hone in on your customer’s conversations using Categories in the Analyze tab. Select your brand searches and overlay them with your common category to provide these insights. You can then send the resulting trend line, share of voice, or sentiment graphs of your choice to your dashboard for monitoring and further analysis by clicking on the dashboard button below the down arrow key shown below.
Please be sure to review each of these valuable common categories to begin taking advantage of Categories today!
