NYT Names Deputy Executive Editors
The New York Times has announced a new management structure under executive editor Dean Baquet, recently appointed to the top NYT post in May. Baquet previously served as the managing editor, but will not be directly replaced, instead appointing four deputy executive editors. Susan Chira has been named deputy executive editor for news. She previously served as assistant managing editor for news. Janet Elder has been named deputy executive editor for talent, operations and budget. She was most recently a deputy managing editor overseeing personnel. Matt Purdy has been named deputy executive editor for investigations and enterprise, most recently overseeing the same as assistant managing editor. Lastly, Ian Fisher has been named deputy executive editor for digital operations, most recently serving as assistant managing editor for digital content.
