Changes in AP Staff

The Associated Press has announced some role changes for staffers as well as two new hires. Josef Federman has been named bureau chief in Jerusalem, most recently a news editor for the bureau since December 2006. He replaces Dan Perry, who is now a regional editor for the Middle East desk. Additionally, Michelle Rindels has been named statehouse reporter for Nevada and will move to the Carson City, Nevada bureau after the November elections. She has been covering breaking news for Nevada and Utah from the Las Vegas bureau since January 2011. Christine Armario, currently a breaking news reporter in the Miami bureau since 2005, will move to Los Angeles to cover education in late November.

Joining the AP this month is Kristin J. Bender, who will be a breaking news reporter for the San Francisco bureau. She has covered breaking news for the Bay Area News Group’s Northern California dailies for the past 14 years. Lastly, Kim Chandler will join the Montgomery, Alabama bureau later this month to cover law enforcement and education. She has been working freelance for the AP since January as a legislative relief reporter and previously worked for the Alabama Media Group as a statehouse reporter, joining the flagship Birmingham (Alabama) News in 2000.
