Two New Editors & One Exit at NYT
The New York Times has announced several changes to its editorial staff. Jesse Pesta will join the paper’s Business Day staff on Sept. 21 as enterprise editor, overseeing longform projects and investigations for the section. Pesta was most recently the deputy bureau chief in New Delhi for The Wall Street Journal, and has also served as page one editor for investigations and enterprise.
Another staff addition is pop music editor Caryn Ganz, who starts Aug. 31. Ganz comes to NYT from Rolling Stone Online, where she served as editorial director since February 2014, also a deputy editor from 2007 to 2010. Ganz is also known as SPIN’s first online editor, a role she held from 2010 to 2014.
Lastly, deputy European business editor Patrick Scott has announced his exit from the NYT’s London bureau, a role he’s held since September 2013, following a tour as assistant business editor in New York. Scott is heading to Cairo with his wife, who has accepted a position at Modern English School Cairo.
