The New York Times has announced several changes to its editorial staff. Wesley Morris will join the Culture department Oct. 19 as a critic at large, a new position at the Times, allowing Morris to cover a wide variety of topics, including film, TV, music and pop culture. He was most recently a staff writer for Grantland since 2013, following a decade with The Boston Globe. Morris will also contribute to The New York Times Magazine.

In other developments with NYT Mag, freelance writer Ana Marie Cox will take over the Talk Q&A column as of Oct. 4. Cox currently writes a weekly political column for The Daily Beast, and has been one of several writers covering the Talk column over the past few months. Cox was previously a senior columnist for The Guardian covering politics and culture. Taking over NYT Mag’s Ethicist column Oct. 4 is Kwame Anthony Appiah, a professor of philosophy and law at New York University. The column has been running as Ethicists with Appiah and two other writers since previous columnist Chuck Klosterman left earlier this year.
