Stephen Friedman, president of MTV since 2011, will leave the network in mid-October. Since joining MTV in 1998, he has served as general manager, helped launch mtvU, and formed MTV’s Strategic Partnerships and Public Affairs department. He created the Fight For Your Rights campaigns, managed the Choose or Lose campaign and co-executive produced the World AIDS Day concerts as well as Be Heard: An MTV Global Discussion with Colin Powell. Replacing Friedman is Sean Atkins, who was previously general manager and executive vice president of digital media and strategy at Discovery Communications.
