Changes at The New York Times
The New York Times has announced two upcoming changes to its editorial staff. Public editor Margaret Sullivan will be stepping down from her role in August 2016, when her four-year contract expires. Sullivan is the fifth public editor for the Times, fielding the many questions and comments from Times readers and the public at large, commenting on the Times’ journalism and investigating various matters of contention. Sullivan is a past editor and vice president of The Buffalo News.
Joining the Times next month is Prashant Rao, who will serve as deputy business editor for Europe, based in the London bureau. Rao is currently an editor on the Asia Pacific news desk for Agence France-Presse in Hong Kong. He has worked with the news service since 2006, and has served as Baghdad bureau chief, deputy bureau chief and correspondent.
