Staff Switch Ups at Associated Press
Staff changes for Associated Press include a new assignment for Howie Rumberg. He will serve as assistant sports editor overseeing sports reporters from New York, and coordinate with assistant sports editors across the United States, as well as the international sports editor. Rumberg previously served as a sports reporter covering baseball for Associate Press since 2007 and joined the news service in 1999.
Brooke Lefferts will take on the role of entertainment video editor for AP. She previously was a news editors for FOX News Online, and a freelance writer and blogger for Associate Press, TODAY Show, and AOL/Patch. Lefferts served as senior producer and coordinating producer for FOX News from 1996 to 2008. She was also an associate producer for ABC News.
Joe Danborn has been named Rockies news editor and will oversee coverage in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana replacing Jim Anderson. He currently serves as the south enterprise editor for Associated Press’ Atlanta bureau, and will relocate to the Denver bureau. Since joining AP in 2005, Danborn has held such positions as interim news editor overseeing Tennessee and Kentucky in the Nashville bureau, interim deputy regional editor overseeing the south region from Atlanta, national desk editor, and supervising editor from the Columbus, Ohio bureau. Prior to joining AP, Danborn was a reporter with the Mobile Press-Register from 1999 to 2005.
Finally, Zeina Karam has been promoted to news director for Lebanon and Syria overseeing all text, video, and photo coverage in the region. Karam served as acting bureau chief and bureau chief for the AP bureau in Beirut, Lebanon since 2013 and was a correspondent for the news service from 1996 to 2013.
