CisionScoop: The New Republic has hired Matt Ford as a staff writer. He will cover politics, law and the courts, and is based in Washington D.C. Ford previously spent four years at The Atlantic and The Atlantic Online, most recently as associate editor. He had joined the pub in 2014 as an editorial fellow.
CisionScoop: Kayla Becker has joined Fodor’s Travel as assistant editor. She comes from ShermansTravel, where she worked in the same capacity for a little over a year. She joined ShermansTravel in 2015 as editorial assistant. Fodor’s Travel is an online destination aimed to help readers unleash the possibilities of travel by providing the insights and tools they need to experience the trips they want.
Town & Country has named Erik Maza style features editor, succeeding Whitney Robinson who is now the top editor at ELLE Decor. Maza was most recently the digital features editor for W, and prior to that spent two years at Women’s Wear Daily as media reporter and Eye editor. He has also reported for the Baltimore Sun and Miami News Times.
Longtime ESPN producer Galen Gordon has left the network and has joined the NFL Network as VP of talent management, where he will lead the talent department responsible for more than 70 TV and digital personalities for NFL Media. Gordon previously spent a decade at ESPN, and oversaw the production of shows including Mike and Mike and First Take. He has also worked for CNN, ABC and NBC.
Brian Ross, the longtime chief investigative correspondent for ABC News, is returning to the network from his four-week suspension. Inasmuch as his title remains the same, Ross’ duties will be different: He will now work on long-term projects, like primetime documentaries, and will also contribute to “20/20” and “Nightline.” Ross has been with ABC News since 1994.
President and publisher of the Tennessean, Laura Hollingsworth, has announced she will step down from her duties, effective Feb 2. Hollingsworth is a 29-year veteran of Gannett, and has lead the daily through some of the newspaper’s most transformative times. Under her leadership, the Tennessean expanded its coverage on music and health care, and became the leader in digital audience in the market.
Yahoo Finance has added Dion Rabouin as markets reporter, effective Jan 8. He comes from Reuters, where he spent three years as reporter covering the markets beat. Rabouis has also worked for International Business Times and HuffPost. h/t Talking Biz News
Former MSNBC host and NBC News correspondent Ronan Farrow is joining HBO as investigative reporter. Farrow has spent most of his reporting career at MSNBC, and left the network in 2015. Most recently he was focusing on investigating the sexual harassment complaints against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Lizzie Crocker is no longer with The Daily Beast. The reporter resigned after accusations of plagiarism. Crocker joined The Daily Beast in 2011 as editorial assistant and prior to that worked for Nylon.
KXAN-TV, the NBC affiliate in Austin,Texas, has said goodbye to Brian Collister, the station’s lead investigative reporter. He joined the staff in 2014, and before that spent time as an investigative reporter at KTRK-TV in Houston and WOAI-TV in San Antonio.
