CisionScoop: Tony Lombardo departed as the executive editor of the Military Times after 10 years to join Military Officers of America as the director of audience engagement. Military Times provides news and updates to active and retired members of the military and their families and includes several publications such as Marine Corps Times, Army Times, and Navy Times.
CisionScoop: Footlights.com welcomed a new Illinois editor, Amanda Finn. Her last position was with the Wisconsin State Journal as an arts and lifestyle reporter. She has also served as a contributing editor of Broadway.com.
Ayesha Rascoe joined NPR as a White House correspondent. She recently departed from Reuters where she had worked since 2008, and held various positions such as energy reporter, energy and environment legal correspondent and most recently White House correspondent.
Former MSNBC booking producer Cassie McNamara joined CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper as a guest booker and editorial producer. She also previously served as a guest booker on Fox News Channel’s Shepard Smith Reporting.
The Washington Post permanently hired its reporting intern Rachel Chason as a full time campaign reporter on the local government and politics team. She will be covering the mid term elections in Maryland and Virginia.
A new weekly internet show has been added to CNNMoney. Markets Now covers live updates and exclusive expert analysis from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange with hosts Richard Quest and Maggie Lake.
Jason Notte departed from TheStreet where he had been a writer since 2009. He covered various topics such as sports, the beer industry and personal finance. He had previously worked for MetroNews and the Herald News as a staff editor. He will be announcing his new position soon. h/t Talking Biz News
U.S. News & World Report shut down its opinion section as it makes an effort to focus less on Washington D.C. and more of the rest of the country. This resulted in the layoffs of the opinion page staff:
- Robert Schlesinger served as the managing editor of the opinion section starting in 2008. He had also previously worked at the Boston Globe as a reporter and The Hill as a political editor.
- Pat Garofalo started at U.S. News & World Report in 2013 as assistant managing editor. He will continue to do freelance work.
- Emily Arrowood began as assistant editor for the opinion section in 2015. Prior to that, she worked as an associate research director of Media Matters for America from 2012 to 2015.
