Weijia Jiang has been named White House correspondent at CBS Television. She is based in the Washington, D.C., bureau and reports daily from the White House for all CBS broadcasts and platforms, including CBS This Morning and CBS Evening News With Jeff Glor, as well as CBSN streaming news service. Jiang joined CBS in 2015 and covered the last presidential election and other major national stories. Prior to that, she reported for WCBS-TV in New York, and WJZ-TV in Baltimore.
The New York Times has welcomed back Julian Barnes as reporter in the Washington, D.C. bureau, effective July 9. He covers U.S. intelligence agencies, national security, and defense. For the last eight years he worked at The Wall Street Journal, most recently in Brussels, where he wrote about terrorism, NATO and the American military in Europe. He has also reported for the Los Angeles Times, and worked for the NYT from 1998 to 2001.
After two years at ABC, Tara Fowler has left the network and joined CBS Interactive as managing editor. She had most recently been the senior evening editor for ABC, and prior to that spent two years at People magazine.
Mic has named Natasha Del Toro anchor of its forthcoming semi-weekly Facebook Watch show, Mic Dispatch. She comes from Fusion, where she reported and produced investigative documentaries since 2013. She also appeared on and produced docuseries The Naked Truth, which is now streaming on Netflix. She is also the host of PBS' America Reframed, and was a producer on the 2016 HBO docuseries Outpost.
Dan Hirschhorn has joined Barron's as managing editor and will lead the digital programming and news planning of the outlet. He previously spent five years at TIME magazine, most recently as director of news. Hirschhorn has also reported for The Daily, Advertising Age, and POLITICO.
Jane Chu has joined PBS as arts adviser, and will help identify opportunities for public media to broaden access and representation in its presentation of the arts to audiences nationwide. Chu was previously the head of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for four years.
The Columbia Journalism Review has hired Betsy Morais as managing editor. She was previously a features editor at Harper's Magazine, and before that spent four years at The New Yorker. CJR serves as a media watchdog publication and monitors the performance of the media in all its forms.
Kyle Jahner is the newest reporter for Bloomberg Law and covers intellectual property, based in Virginia. Jahner was most recently a reporter for Law360, where he covered court cases and administrative legal actions regarding a variety of issues including intellectual property, international trade, telecommunications, government contracts, tax and immigration.
Author and editor Derek Blasberg has left magazine publishing to join YouTube, and lead the new fashion and beauty partnerships division. In the last decade, Blasberg has been a fixture in the fashion publishing industry, and most recently served as editor at large at V and VMan magazines. He also wrote the long-running column, Man on the Street, for Vanity Fair.
Alternative radio KYSR-FM in Los Angeles has announced that Tamo Sein joined the station as midday personality for the 10am-3pm broadcast, effective July 16. She was previously an on-air personality for KLLT-FM in Columbia, Illinois, and KDXA-FM in Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to that, she served as assistant program director at WEND-FM in Salisbury, North Carolina.
