Leadership Changes at San Diego Business Journal, New Political Contributor at NBC News

The San Diego Business Journal has hired Barbara Chodos as publisher, effective June 15. Chodos was previously vice president of sales and operations at Gannett's The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Florida. Prior to that, she spent 12 years as vice president of advertising for The Star-Ledger in Newark, New Jersey. 

Greg Barr has been named editor in chief of Phoenix Business Journal, effective July 5. Barr has been a part of the Business Journal community for almost a decade, and previously served as  managing editor of the Austin Business Journal and prior to that, managing editor of the Houston Business Journal.

Investopedia has added James Chen to its content team as director of trading and investing content. In addition to being in charge of the site's content, Chen is also responsible for building out the Investopedia Academy’s educational curriculum and online courses. Chen was previously head of research and education for the currency trading platform Forex.com. h/t Talking Biz News 

NBC News and MSNBC have hired  Ben Rhodes as political contributor. Rhodes is a former deputy national security advisor for strategic communications for the Obama administration, and made his on-air NBC debut on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd. He will also offer political commentary to MSNBC  All In with Chris Hayes.

Fox News has expanded its morning broadcast America's Newsroom to three hours, effective June 11; Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith continue to anchor the show. The extra hour has replaced Happening Now at 11am, with host Jon Scott, who started as anchor on Fox Report Weekend June 16.

Nerilyn A. Tenorio has been promoted to publisher/editor of the Manila Times, succeeding Rene Q. Bas who has retired. She represents the board in the newsroom, and will also help launch The Manila Times Digital TV operations. Tenorio was previously the editor in chief of the outlet. 

WRMD-TV, the Telemundo affiliate for the Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida market, has added Jose Acevedo as digital producer. He comes from  Entravision Communications, where he had served as a multimedia writer and producer since 2015. Prior to that, he worked for Univision Interactive Media as interactive producer.
