Megan Wilson has joined Bloomberg Government as lobbying reporter. She comes from The Hill, where she spent the last five years as a staff writer. Prior to that, she worked at The Center for Responsive Politics, as an OpenSecrets blog reporter.
The New York Times has hired Karen Weise as technology correspondent based in Seattle. She was previously a reporter for Businessweek, where she wrote on the intersection of tech, policy, and people. Prior to that, she was a reporting intern for ProPublica.
Axios has added two finance reporters to its roster:
Emma Ockerman has joined VICE as a reporter covering health, the environment and social services. She previously reported for Bloomberg and covered U.S. equities for the First Word team, and health care and insurance markets for the health team. Prior to that, she interned at the Detroit Free-Press and the Washington Post. h/t Talking Biz News
The Chicago Sun-Times has welcomed back Stephanie Zimmermann as consumer investigative reporter. She previously spent five years at ABC News as a reporter/producer with the network’s investigative unit. Before that, she spent 16 years at the Sun-Times as The Fixer consumer columnist.
Wendy Benjaminson has been promoted to managing editor for McClatchy Newspapers, upped from White House and national policy editor. She was previously the managing editor for government and politics at USA Today, and before that lead the Associated Press Washington Bureau as interim bureau chief, and assistant bureau chief before that.
The HuffPost in Los Angeles has parted ways with senior writer and columnist Ann Brenoff. She was with the outlet for seven years and wrote On The Fly column. Prior to that, she spent 17 years at the Los Angeles Times and won a Pulitzer Prize for her work there.
Jim Spiewak has joined KUTV-TV, the CBS-affiliated station licensed to Salt Lake City, Utah, as evening anchor and investigative reporter. He comes from WHBQ-TV in Mepmphis, Tennessee, where he served as a midday anchor and chief investigative reporter. Prior to that, he worked at WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida.
WFNZ-AM sports radio in Charlotte, North Carolina, has brought on two new hosts for the vacant midday slot: Nick Wilson and Josh Parcell have been added as midday on-air personalities taking the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. time slot. Wilson joins WFNZ after spending the past seven years with 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. Parcell has previously filled in at WFNZ, and has also worked as a producer for ESPN. He also hosts a college football podcast.
