Media Moves at Broadly & Wirecutter, New Reporter at WaPo
Danielle Kwateng-Clark has joined Broadly as senior editor covering culture, entertainment, relationships and sex. She comes from Essence where she most recently worked as content producer. Kwateng-Clark has also contributed to Racked and Teen Vogue, and had stints at TIME and Glamour. Broadly is the women-centric channel from VICE that focuses on women's interests and the world from a distinctly female point of view.
The Los Angeles Times assistant biz editor, Andrea Chang, has switched beats and now covers food and restaurants as a writer. She has been with the paper since 2007, and has since worked as tech reporter and a retail reporter. Chang is a graduate of Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
Former One America News Network chief Washington correspondent, Trey Yingst, is now a general assignment reporter for FOX News based in Jerusalem. Yingst spent two years at OANN, and prior to that worked for BBC News as a commentator.
Jacqui Cheng will step down from her post as editor in chief of Wirecutter in September, and will move into an advisory role. Cheng has been the top editor of the outlet since 2013, and previously worked as senior Apple editor for Ars Technica. Wirecutter is a New York Times Company website and covers technology, consumer electronics, products for the home and more.
The Washington Post has hired Ben Strauss as a reporter covering sports and media, effective Sept 4. Staruss comes from The New York Times, where he has bee a contributing writer since 2011. He has also written for Politico, and is a Penguin Books author.
Reporter Jennifer Henderson has left the Triangle Business Journal, where she covered healthcare, life sciences, law and higher education. She previously reported for American Lawyer and the Commercial Observer. Henderson holds a master’s degree in journalism from New York University. h/t Talking Biz News
WEBE-FM radio in Bridgeport, Connecticut, has hired Megan Stone as AM drive time on-air personality, effective Aug. 6. She co-hosts the WEBE Wake Up Morning Show with Jay Michaels. She was previously on-air at WBEC-FM in the Berkshires, and prior to that worked for WEZN-FM in Bridgeport, Connecticut as midday host.
Charmaine Nero has joined KTXL-TV, the Fox-owned station in Sacramento, California as multimedia journalist. She investigates, shoots, and edits a wide range of news stories for broadcast and digital platforms. She previously worked in the same capacity at KARK-TV and KLRT-TV.
Nicole Estaphan is the newest reporter and producer for the Chronicle on WCVB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Boston. She has been with the station on a freelancer basis since 2016, and previously worked on a NASA documentary project about marine ecosystems in the North Atlantic.
