Veteran journalist Jamie Tarabay will move to The New York Times Sydney bureau in the fall as a correspondent. She is currently a senior producer for CNN International based in Hong Kong. Tarabay has also reported for The Associated Press, NPR, National Journal, Al Jazeera and Vocativ.
The Wichita Eagle has promoted Michael Roehrman to executive editor, after serving as interim editor for the last six months. Roehrman has been with the paper since 1997, and since then has helped with the launch of what is now Kansas.com. He has also held a variety positions with the paper including copy desk chief, publishing editor and senior editor.
Washington columnist Indira Lakshmanan has left the Boston Globe and joined the Pulitzer Center as executive editor. She has been writing on foreign policy/national security and politics for the Globe since 2016. She began her career on the foreign desk at NPR and as a freelance reporter in Latin America, and since then has also written for Bloomberg and The International New York Times.
Yahoo Finance has added two journalists to its roster:
Moni Basu has left CNN Online. She was a reporter for the CNN Enterprise Team, an award-winning group that covers the site’s most distinct stories. Basu has been with CNN since 2015, and previously worked for Atlanta Journal-Constitution as assistant international editor, and United Press International as a freelancer.
The Chicago Sun-Times welcomed back Dave Newbart, who returned to the paper after a six year absence. He is now on the city desk as an editor. Newbart's first run at the Sun-Times started in 1992, when he was an assistant to columnist Michael Sneed and later was a reporter and assistant metro editor. He left the paper to help start DNAInfo in 2012.
Tracie McKinney has been officially named news director at ABC's KTNV-TV in Las Vegas, after being the interim news director. She was previously the assistant news director at WXYZ-TV in Detroit, and prior to that worked in the same capacity for WTSP-TV in St. Petersburg, Florida.
NJBIZ has bid farewell to two of its staffers: Vincent Calio, health care and economic development reporter, resigned from the paper after two years. He was previously reporting for the Infrastructure Journal. Managing editor Carl DiOrio has also left the outlet after less than 9 months at the post. He was previously the managing editor for OuterBusiness.com.
Liz Moomey has been named government and business reporter at the Salisbury Post in North Carolina. She has previously written for North State Journal, the News & Observer and Spectrum News. She has also written sports features and profiles for GoPack, N.C. State’s athletics site.
WTVT-TV, the Fox owned station in Tampa, Florida, has hired Briona Arradondo as a general assignment news reporter. She was previously a morning reporter for WSMV-TV in Nashville, and before that worked for WTVC-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
