Media Moves at The Dr. Oz Show & TODAY, Top Editor Exits TIME
Bloomberg News has updates on a couple of reporters in their Hong King and London bureaus:
- Benjamin Robertson is now a finance reporter for Greater China based in Hong Kong, and covers banks, trading, stock and crypto exchanges and regulation. He was previously a market structure reporter covering regulation, trading, and exchanges, Robertson joined Bloomberg in 2016 as first world equity editor.
- Jill Ward has relocated to the New Delhi bureau as a reporter covering aerospace and transportation. She was previously at the newswire's London bureau covering the Bank of England, trade, the U.K. and the Western European economies.
Craig Melvin has moved from Weekend TODAY to weekdays, as an anchor and co-host of the TODAY show. He is also an anchor for the 1 p.m. newscast on MSNBC. Melvin has been with the network since 2011 when he joined the staff as a correspondent. Before that, he spent two years at WRC-TV in Washington, D.C.
CNN Style has promoted Fiona Sinclair Scott to global editor, overseeing all editorial internationally. She has been the style editor for CNN International since 2015. Prior to that, she worked for i-D magazine as executive producer, and Crane.tv as deputy editor.
John Waggoner has joined Kiplinger's Personal Finance as senior associate editor. He was previously a senior columnist at Investment News, and before that spent almost two decades at USA Today as a reporter and columnist. He has also worked for The Independent Investor as senior editor.
USA Today has brought on Cristina Silva as enterprise editor on the outlet's national desk. She comes from a year at Newsweek, where she served as news director. Prior to that, she was the managing editor for the International Business Times.
Jessica Firger is the newly hired associate producer for The Dr. Oz Show; she is part of the medical unit. She was previously a senior health writer for Newsweek, and before that spent a year at CBS Interactive as health editor. She is also a freelance writer, and her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Daily News, BUST, Poets &Writers, City Limits, Salon, and Elle.
TIME has parted ways with Matt Vella, the magazine's executive editor for the last two years. Vella has been with the outlet since 2013, when he joined the staff as senior editor. Prior to that, he worked for Fortune as deputy technology editor, and HuffPpst Finance as director of news.
KYW-AM radio in Philadelphia has hired Alex Silverman as program director, effective Sept. 24. He was previously the assistant PD at sister-station in New York, and before that worked for KIRO-FM in Seattle and WSYR-FM in Syracuse, New York.
Dawn Clapperton has been promoted to assistant news director at WTVJ-TV, the NBC station in Miami. She is also the executive producer at the station since 2013. Before that, she worked for WPTV-TV in Palm Beach, Florida.
