Media Moves at Forbes & Architectural Digest, New Reporter at Axios
Laura Mandaro will join Forbes in San Francisco as tech and science editor Oct. 29. She is finishing up her duties as national tech news and science editor at USA Today, a position she has held only since August. She has been with the paper since 2014, and before that spent eight years at MarketWatch as markets editor.
Architectural Digest has hired Katy Olson as editor. She comes from Business of Home, where she spent the last three years as executive editor. Olson has also worked as a freelancer and produces guides to High Point Market, Las Vegas Market, and Salone del Mobile—Milan Design Week. Her editorial work has also appeared on People.com, Hearst Corporation, and Work Style, a Milan, Italy-based interior design magazine.
Pat Maio has joined the Los Angeles Business Journal as a reporter covering finance, effective Sept. 28. He is a veteran journalist who specialized in business and government reporting, and has previously worked for San Diego Union-Tribune, Orange County Register, and the Dow Jones newswires, among others.
Crain's Chicago Business has brought on Stephanie Goldberg as a healthcare reporter. She was previously a marketing specialist at Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan, and before that worked for Business Insurance magazine where she wrote breaking news and enterprise stories for print and digital platforms.
Joann Muller is the newest reporter at Axios, and writes the Autonomous Vehicle Newsletter which covers autonomous vehicles and the future of transportation. She comes from Forbes, where she spent the last 16 years as the Detroit bureau chief. Before that she worked for Businessweek as Detroit correspondent, and the Boston Globe as a business reporter.
Elizabeth Ross has moved positions at WGBH-FM/PRI radio in Boston, and now serves as a senior producer for the "Innovation Hub" show. She previously spent eight years at PRI's "The Takeaway" as a producer. Ross has also worked as a producer for BBC World Service and BBC Radio 4.
Westwood One News has welcomed Michael Toscano as host of "First Light", the nationally syndicated early-morning news program. He replaces Evan Haning, who will continue part-time at WON as fill-in-host. Toscano will continue hosting the syndicated weekend program "The Week-In-Review." He is a former host at The Wall Street Journal Radio Network's "The Daily Wrap".
Linda Kenyon has also joined Westwood One News, as Capitol Hill correspondent covering Washington, D.C., politics and government out of Rockville, Maryland. She spent the last two decades at Salem Radio Network, and before that reported for the Associated Press.
Ronan Shields has joined Adweek as a reporter covering advertising technology. He comes from The Drum, where he most recently served as the digital editor. Before that, he worked as the executive editor of ExchangeWire, a reporter for Marketing Week, and a a reporter for New Media Age.
