Media Moves at Bloomberg News & NBC, Automotive News Launches Mexico Edition
Paula Dwyer has joined Bloomberg News as senior editor. She comes from QuickTakes, the Bloomberg News’s explanatory journalism platform, where she served as an editor for almost two years. Before that, she was an editor for Bloomberg View for more that five years. Dwyer has also worked for The New York Times Company and Business Week.
NBC News has tapped Allan Smith as politics reporter. He was previously a senior politics reporter for Business Insider, and joined the outlet in 2015 as breaking news reporter. Before that, he spent two years at The Post as assistant managing editor and senior writer before that.
The Automotive News Group has launched Automotive News Mexico, a Spanish-language version of the magazine devoted to covering North America’s fastest-growing auto market. The website, autonews.mx is live, and distribution of a monthly print magazine will begin in the second quarter of 2019. With that, come the following editorial staff appointments:
- Laurence Iliff has been named the editorial director. He covers Toyota North America and the global auto industry in Mexico. He was previously the bureau chief of Automotive News's Dallas bureau, and before that worked for The Wall Street Journal as Latin America correspondent for seven years.
- Alfredo Domador has been named managing director of Automotive News Mexico, and will lead the business side of the publication. He was previously with Carvajal Medioso, where he served as general manager since 2014.
Corri Hess will join Wisconsin Public Radio Nov. 5 as a reporter covering the Milwaukee area. She comes from BizTimes Media, where she has been a reporter since 2015. Before that, she worked for the Milwaukee Business Journal as a reporter, and the Daily Herald also as a reporter.
Yahoo News has hired Jenna McLaughlin as national security and investigations reporter based in Washington, D.C. She previously spent less than a year as national security reporter for CNN, and before that reported for Foreign Policy. Prior to that, she was a Ben Bagdikian editorial fellow at Mother Jones.
Longtime Albany Business Review editor in chief, Mike Hendricks, has retired. He has been at the helm of the publication since 2000, and before that spent 27 years at The Associated Press. He began his journalism career in 1969 at Panax Publications and The Daily Eagle.
Entercom alternative radio KROQ-FM in Los Angeles has added Jensen Karp as co-host on the "Kevin & Bean Show." He fills the role that was previously held by Ralph Garman, and briefly by Mike Catherwood. Karp’s career began as a freestyle rapper in the daily Roll Call, and later signed a record deal as Hot Karl. He later wrote for the WWE and currently serves as executive producer on TBS’ “Drop The Mic” which was spun-off from segments on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
NBC's WAVE-TV in Louisville, Kentucky has brought on Taylor Durden is weekend anchor. Most recently Durden was a weekend anchor at KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas, where she reported on news and happenings affecting viewers in Central Texas. Before that, she was a freelancer for the Far East Broadcasting Company.
