Media Moves at ELLE Online & HuffPost, New Business Reporter at WaPo

Leah Chernikoff has been promoted to executive director of ELLE.com, upped from digital director. She has been with ELLE since 2013, after spending three years at Fashionista as editorial director. Before that she was a features reporter for the New York Daily News. 

HuffPost has announced the addition of Richard Kim as enterprise director, who will join the outlet in early 2019. He will oversee enterprise editors and reporters as well as the personal and opinion sections at HuffPost. Kim is currently wrapping up his duties as executive editor for The Nation, a position he has held since 2007. He is also the co-editor of the New York Times best-selling anthology "Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, An American Nightmare."

Christopher Rowland has moved to The Washington Post as healthcare business reporter, covering the healthcare industry and its facilities. He previously spent 17 years at the Boston Globe in a variety of positions, most recently as Washington bureau chief and assistant managing editor. 

Yahoo! Finance has brought on Jillian Harding as a producer. She comes from CBS MoneyWatch, where she worked as digital video producer and writer for a year. Before that, she worked for CNBC as a producer for six years, and at CNN as a news assistant before that. 

Sydney Smith has joined MiBiz as business reporter covering regional business news in Western Michigan. She was previously a municipal reporter for The Holland Sentinel, a cops and courts reporter for The Times Herald, and a general assignment reporter for MLive Media Group. 

Nation's Restaurant News has hired Joanna Fantozzi as assistant editor covering restaurants (chains and independents) from a B2B perspective. She will serve in the same capacity at Restaurant Hospitality magazine as well. Fantozzi was previously a food and lifestyle reporter for Insider, and a news editor for The Daily Meal. 

Beasley Media Group's WSOC-FM commercial radio in Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced the appointments of several new top staff: 

  • Jack Daniel joins as program director and oversees programming for WSOC-FM and WBCN-AM. He was previously an afternoon host at Beasley-owned WKQC and WBCN/W234BY since March 2018. Before that, he served as program director for WEND from 1995 until 2017. 
  • Philip ‘Big Sexy’ Tabakelis has been promoted to assistant program director, and will continue his duties as PM host. He has been with the station since since 2006 and evening host since 2009.
  • Mimi Wheeler has been upped to music director at the station. She previously served as assistant digital PD and associate morning show producer, and joined the staff in June.  Before that she worked for WNCB in Raleigh, North Carolina.
