Media Moves at Bloomberg News & NYT, Departures at Vanity Fair, WSJ

Bloomberg News reporter Ivan Levingston will relocate to the outlet's Israel bureau in January, and will cover Israel's economy and government. He has been with the news organization since September 2017, and initially joined the staff as an intern out of the Boston bureau. Most recently, he reported on asset managers, hedge funds, and university endowments from New York. 

Vaughn Vreeland has joined The New York Times digital team as a senior video journalist on the NYT Cooking team; he started Dec. 17. Vreeland comes from BuzzFeed Tasty, where he developed new concepts and show formats, and also produced content for Tasty's YouTube channel. 

The Wall Street Journal will bid farewell to Ann Podd in early 201, who will retire after 25 years at the outlet. In her most recent job, she served as editor of print production for news, and before that spent six years as The Journal's deputy managing night editor. During her tenure, Podd has also worked as day editor, group editor, and spot news editor. She joined the paper in 1994 from the New York Daily News. 

Major Garrett has been promoted to chief Washington correspondent for CBS News and will expand his coverage to the 2020 presidential election and enterprise reporting.He has served as chief White House correspondent since joining CBS News in 2012, and has also contributed to “CBS This Morning” and “CBS Evening News With Jeff Glor.” Garrett also hosts the weekly podcast “The Takeout” that examines politics, public policy and pop culture. Before joining CBS, he worked as a Washington-based correspondent for CNN, Fox News and National Journal.

McClatchy has announced the promotion of Rebecca Poynter to publisher of McClatchy's three Western Washington state media companies, The News Tribune, The Olympian and The Bellingham Herald, effective Jan. 14. She will remain vice president of local sales for McClatchy's West Region and Idaho Statesman publisher. Poynter succeeds David Zeeck who will step down as publisher of McClatchy's Western Washington state markets on Jan. 11. 

Maya Kosoff has left Vanity Fair, where she spent two years as a writer covering tech industry news. Before that, she was a technology reporter for Business Insider, where she spent two years reporting on New York City startups. Prior to that, she interned at the outlet.
