Media Moves at Richmond Times-Dispatch & CNN, Two New Reporters at Business Insider
Shalini Ramachandran has shuffled her beats at The Wall Street Journal and and is now enterprise reporter, focusing on workplace culture and company governance at in the paper’s management group. She previously covered media and cable since she joined the staff in 2012.
The Los Angeles Times has brought on Lucas Peterson as a contributor. He reports and hosts a new video series and contributes to the food and travel sections of the paper. Peterson has been the Frugal Traveler columnist for the New York Times for nearly three years and producer and host of Eater’s longest-running video series, “Dining on a Dime,” since 2015.
Matthew Philips has joined CNN in Washington, D.C. as assistant managing editor overseeing enterprise reporting at the bureau. He comes from Bloomberg Businessweek, where he most recently served as politics and policy editor for almost two years, and associate editor before that. Philips has also previously spent five years at Newsweek.
Business Insider has welcomes two new reporters:
- Rebecca Ungarino gets on board as markets reporter. She was previously an associate editor at CNBC, and before that helmed the newsroom of Dollars & Sense as editor in chief.
- Bradley Saacks is the new hedge funds reporter for Business Insider. He comes from Ignites, the Financial Times's mutual fund branch, where he reported on sales, distribution and marketing in the mutual fund world for two years. Prior to that, he was a news intern at Bloomberg.
Mel Leonor has joined the Richmond Times-Dispatch as a reporter covering local government and the environment. She was most recently a policy reporter for Politico for four years, and before that reported on education for the Naples Daily News.
The Puget Sound Business Journal has named Ryan Lambert editor in chief, succeeding Emily Parkhurst, who was promoted to publisher and market president of the Business Journal in October. Lambert joined the staff in 2014, and most recently served in dual roles as the publication’s creative director and sections editor. He has also worked for the San Jose Mercury News.
Alicia Barrera has been named anchor at ABC-affiliated KSAT-TV in San Antonio, Texas. She comes from Telemundo 40, where she worked as a reporter and video journalist and earned several Emmy awards. She is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University.
WQIK-FM radio in Jacksonville, Florida has promoted John Scott to program director. He has been with the station for 28 years, most recently serving as music director. He has also hosted mornings, middays and afternoon drive at WQIK.
Bridget Bennett is headed to ABC-owned KCAU-TV in Sioux City, Iowa to take over as the main evening anchor. She replaces Jenna Rehnstrom who is leaving the anchor desk after 12 years. Bennett comes from sister station KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, Iowa, where she worked as an anchor and reporter since 2012.
KFMB-TV, the CBS affiliate in San Diego, California, has hired Jenny Milkowski as host, reporter and traffic anchor. She previously worked as traffic reporter at WFLD-TV in Chicago, and also served as a host and producer of the Hubbard Broadcasting show "Jenny Milk & Jay."
