Media Moves at the LA Times & Bloomberg Radio, Houston Chronicle Hires Assistant Business Editor
The Los Angeles Times Washington, D.C. bureau has made several staff moves, including the return of two former staffers:
- Janet Hook has rejoined the paper’s Washington bureau as chief political writer. She previously spent eight years as political reporter at The Wall Street Journal, and before that worked for the LA Times for five years.
- Doyle McManus has also returned to the paper as Washington correspondent. He will write a regular column providing analysis of domestic politics/policy and international affairs. He spent nearly four decades at the LA Times, and has held various editorial posts, including Washington bureau chief, White House correspondent, and foreign policy correspondent.
- Anna M. Phillips will cover environmental policy in Washington. She has been with the paper since 2016 and was most recently part of the Metro desk.
Bloomberg Radio has launched "Sound on with Kevin Cirilli," a new show that features stories from Bloomberg’s journalists in and around the district, airing weekdays at 5 p.m. Kevin Cirilli has been with Bloomberg since 2015 and also serves as chief Washington correspondent for Bloomberg Television in Washington, D.C., and a reporter for the Bloomberg News Washington, D.C. bureau.
Eric Moskowitz has joined The New York Times Past Tense team as a reporter. He spent more than a decade at the Boston Globe, most recently on the Metro desk. Before that he reported for The Concord Monitor and The Standard-Times.
The Houston Chronicle has named Jonathan Diamond assistant business editor, effective Jan. 14. He has spent much of his career at the Los Angeles Business Journal, where he has served as a senior managing editor and editor. He also had a stint at The Hollywood Reporter as an associate managing editor.
Emma Court has joined Business Insider as a senior healthcare reporter. She comes from MarketWatch, where she served as a healthcare reporter since 2015. Before that, she was an intern at The Wall Street Journal’s Washington bureau, and helped cover the 2016 presidential election.
TD Ameritrade Network has hired Nicole Petallides as a co-host, effective Dec. 17. She is a former Fox Business Network anchor and New York Stock Exchange floor corespondent. She has also worked for Bloomberg Television, CNBC, and Wall Street Journal Television.
Laura Diaz is set to join iHeartRadio's WMTX-FM in Tampa, Florida, Jan. 3 as a morning co-host of the station's "The Mix Morning Show." She comes from WXXL-FM in Orlando, where she spent the last seven years alongside Johnny Magic in the mornings.
Morning host Doug McIntyre has exited KABC-AM radio in Los Angeles after 22 years at the station. His last day was Dec. 14. McIntyre led the morning broadcasts from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., and also served as a columnist for the Los Angeles Daily News.
