Media Moves at CNET News & Fortune, CR Fashion Book Promotes One
Bloomberg News has announced the following staff updates at two of its bureaus:
- David Merritt is now the senior executive editor for EMEA, overseeing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; he is based in London. Merritt oversaw Asia for four years before returning to London a little more than a year ago, and has been with Bloomberg News since 2000.
- Brian Bremner, has been named executive editor for global business and will relocate from Tokyo to London. He succeeds Jackie Simmons, who will move to New York after 20 years in Europe. Bremner has been in Tokyo since 1993 and most recently served as the executive editor for Asia enterprise.
- John McCorry will move to Johannesburg in April to take over as executive editor in charge of Africa. He has been with Bloomberg News in New York since 1992 and currently serves as the executive editor there.
Ian Sherr has been promoted to editor at large for CNET News, covering mobile devices, social media, Microsoft, virtualization, and video games. He has been with the tech site since 2014, and most recently served as an executive editor. Prior to that, he wrote about consumer technology for The Wall Street Journal, and before that worked for Reuters in San Francisco and Chicago.
Fortune assistant managing editor Leigh Gallagher has left the magazine after 12 years to join Google as director of external affairs. Gallagher's first stint at Fortune was in 1998 when she stayed for four years as a staff writer, and left in 2004 to join SmartMoney. She returned to Fortune in 2007 as a senior editor, and was named assistant managing editor in 2010.
Patrik Sandberg has been named creative director for CR Fashion Book and CR Men magazines, in addition to his editorial director position at both outlets. His expanded role includes taking on a lot of the day-to-day editorial work at the publications. Sandberg has been with CR since 2018 and joined the staff from Dazed and V Magazine, where he had been a freelance editor.
Fox News has appointed Michael Tammero to SVP of event marketing and host of on-air entertainment programming. In this role, he will cover entertainment and pop culture across all platforms, including Fox News, FBN, Fox News Digital, Fox Nation, the affiliate news service Fox News Edge, as well as Fox News Radio, on a full-time basis. He has been with the network since 1997 when he joined as an intern.
Cheryl Carson has joined WJLA-TV, the ABC station in Washington, D.C., as news director. She comes from KING-TV in Seattle where she had been the news director since 2016. Before that she spent 12 years at Fox Broadcasting as senior executive producer.
After the January 2019 issue, Corpus Christi Business News has become an online-only newspaper. It will be delivered weekly via email, and will continue to cover stories about economic factors affecting the Coastal Bend.
Kim Adams is the new midday on-air personality for WDZH-FM radio in Detroit, Michigan. She can be heard on-air from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Adams has more than two decades of experience in television as a meteorologist at WDIV-TV in Detroit, WXYZ-TV in Southfield, Michigan, and WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio.
