Media Moves at Yahoo Finance & CNN, Town & Country Names Beauty Director

Town & Country has named April Long beauty director. She succeeds Jamie Rosen, who will stay on with the publication as a contributing beauty editor and columnist. Long is a former Elle beauty director and executive beauty editor, who spent a decade handling beauty content at Hearst. She has also served as a beauty, travel and culture freelance writer for almost two decades, and her work has appeared in an array of publications including  Vogue, Porter, Net-a-Porter The Edit, Shape, Glamour, Well & Good,Cosmopolitan, and many more. 

Jessica Smith has joined Yahoo Finance as a Washington-based reporter. She comes from Nexstar Media Group, where she spent the last two years as a correspondent covering Congress and the White House. Prior to that, she worked as a multimedia journalist for WISH-TV in Indianapolis. 

CNN's Chicago bureau has welcomed Eric Bradner as a national political reporter covering the 2020 Democratic presidential contest from the Windy City. Bradner has been with the network since 2014, when he joined as a reporter on the digital politics team's breaking news desk. He also built and launched “Nightcap,” an every-evening political newsletter he wrote for two years, and covered the 2016 presidential race. Before CNN, Bradner served as a trade reporter for Politico. 

Patrick Rucker has moved to The Capitol Forum as a reporter covering Wall Street, banking and the housing market. He previously worked at Reuters for a dozen years covering energy, banking and the Mexico telecom industry. Before that, Rucker reported for the Chicago Tribune and the Financial Times from Havana, Cuba. 

VICELAND has tapped Eve Peyser as a story producer for "Vice Live", a new show set to debut Feb. 25 and will air every night, live from VICE's headquarters in Brooklyn. Peyser has been with Vice since 2017, and most recently served as a politics staff writer. Prior to that, she worked for Gizmodo and freelanced for Hearst magazines and New York magazine. 

The Los Angeles Times has announced a pair of staff moves, including the addition of a reporter and the promotion of a longtime staffer: 

  • Jack F. Leonard has shifted to senior editor of investigations. He recently took on as Metro investigations editor, and in his new role will continue to work with metro investigative reporters but also will coordinate investigative work in other departments as well as investigative partnerships with other organizations. He has been with the LA Times since 1998.
  • Emily Baumgartner has joined the paper as  health and science reporter. She comes from The New York Times where she reported on disease outbreaks, breaking news and health policy out of the Washington, D.C. bureau. Before that, she was a correspondent and project coordinator for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, where she reported for the Atlantic, Foreign Policy, the Washington Post and Scientific American from Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. 

ABC's WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, has announced the addition of Stephanie Linton, who will join the station as news director on March 4. It's a homecoming for Linton, who started her television career at WPBF-TV and left in 2006 to become executive producer at WFOR-TV in Miami. After four years there, she joined WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina as the assistant news director. Most recently, Linton served as an assistant news director for KGO-TV in San Francisco. 

Gary Brode has moved from anchor at WZVN-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, to a reporter at WBZ-TV, the CBS station in Boston. Brode has also previously reported for ABC7 Southwest Florida as a morning news anchor/reporter, and WCIA-TV, in Champaign, Illinois as a reporter/anchor/producer.
