Media Moves at AP & CNN, New Editor at Chronicle of Higher Education

Fine most recently served as a professor at the University of Kansas, and before that worked as the managing editor of the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the Indianapolis Star.

The Associated Press has hired two political reporters, both part of the 2020 political team:

  • Alexandra Jaffe will join the AP as a political reporter based in Iowa; she starts Feb. 25. She comes from Vice, where she was a political correspondent covering national and state politics and policy. Before that, she covered the 2016 Marco Rubio and Donald Trump campaigns for NBC News. Prior to that, she covered Congress and the 2014 midterms for CNN’s digital politics team and The Hill.
  • Hunter Woodall will join the AP as a political reporter based in New Hampshire, effective Feb. 25. He was previously a reporter for The Kansas City Star, where he’s covered state government and politics in Kansas and Missouri. Woodall was also part of the Star's reporting team recognized as a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service.

Sam Sabin, a reporter at Morning Consult, has changed her beats and now covers tech policy. She writes the Tech morning and afternoon newsletters, along with covering the tech policy beat and reporting on anything tech- and telecom-related in Washington. Sabin has been with the outlet since May 2018 and previously covered the media and marketing industry.

Mother Jones has brought on Fernanda Echávarri as a reporter. She comes from NPR's Latino USA, where she spent three years reporting and producing weekly stories. She is also a former adjunct professor at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

Rebecca Palmer has joined the Idaho Business Review as a special sections editor, effective Feb. 11.
