Media Moves at San Diego Business Journal & CNN, Promotion at CBS This Morning
San Diego Business Journal has seen top management changes recently. Vik Jolly, previously serving as interim editor in chief and managing editor for the magazine, has been named editor in chief, officially. To take his place as managing editor, the magazine has tapped copy editor, Stephen Adamek. h/t TalkingBizNews
Marley Jay has joined Business Insider as a senior investing reporter. He comes from Associated Press where he was most recently a markets reporter. During his twelve years with the news service, he also covered healthcare, stock-movers, and general news. h/t TalkingBizNews
CNN's Washington, D.C. bureau has gained two new reporters. Michael Warren has joined as a reporter, coming from The Weekly Standard after nine years there. He held multiple positions during his time with the magazine, including staff writer, online editor, and senior editor. Holmes Lybrand, also from The Weekly Standard, signs on as a fact check reporter for the bureau. Prior to the magazine's final publication, Lybrand held the same position there.
Veteran CBS This Morning producer, Grace Lamb-Atkinson, has been promoted to White house producer. She has been with the show since 2014, where she started as an associate producer. Lamb-Atkinson traded one large network for another, moving to CBS from NBC where she was a researcher on Meet the Press.
Benjamin Romano has rejoined The Seattle Times as a business reporter, covering online retail giant Amazon. During his first stint with the newspaper, he was a business and technology reporter. Romano has a history of business coverage, with time as an editor at Xconomy, and a business and agriculture reporter with the Yakima Herald-Republic under his belt. h/t TalkingBizNews
Los Angeles Magazine has named Maer Roshan editor in chief. Maer has been at the helm of multiple publications, including as editor in chief of RadarOnline.com, TheFix.com, and NYQ. He has also held senior editorial roles with Talk and New York Magazine.
After 121 years in print, Jewish-American periodical, the Forward, will cease print publication in the spring of 2019. The paper is not stopping publication as a whole, but moving solely to digital. Versions in both English and Yiddish will still be available when the transition is completed.
Jessica Kantor has been named the first editor in chief of LALA Magazine, moving after a decade with Condé Nast. Most recently, she was the west coast editor for Glamour, and also held editor positions with Vogue and Glamour. In her new role, Kantor oversees all editorial creation and production, as well as special projects and events for the magazine.
Hubbard Broadcasting's Chicago, Illinois station, WTMX-FM welcomes Jimmy Steal as vice president of brand and content. He comes from Los Angeles, where he was vice president of programming and program director for Meruelo Media's KDAY-FM. He has held similar positions with Emmis Communication stations and Clear Channel.
WFMT-FM, a Window to the World Communications Inc. station in Chicago, Illinois, has a new vice president and general manager in George Preston. He is re-joining the station, after serving as an on air personality there from 2009 to 2013. Preston starts his new position March 1, 2019.
